Have only used it for about two hours, but I can some it up in one word: LOVE. I am no audiophile but I play violin and do appreciate good sound quality. Having lived entirely with computer speakers for the last several years, I can now say that I was deprived. The Acton speaker has absolutely gorgeous sound. Tried listening to the "Les Miserables" (movie) soundtrack -- WOW. You can hear every instrument. Even when turned up so loud that it's uncomfortable to stand beside it, the music is clear and crisp, not muddy. I absolutely love that you can adjust the bass and treble. And if bass is your thing, you can definitely crank it so that it will really boom. The sound is full, rich, and perfect. Totally worth the $200. Plus, it's wicked pretty!
I haven't had any issues with Bluetooth connectivity so far, but will update after a few weeks of use. We are using the speaker both for bluetooth streaming, and to listen to our records. For the record hookup, we have the Audio Technica AT-LP60USB Fully Automatic Belt Driven Turntable with USB Port and have plugged it into the Acton's input jack using the Hosa Cable YRA154 Stereo 1/8 Male to Dual RCA Female Y Cable - 6 Inch. Works like a charm.
***A tip: this was a total "d'uh" moment for me, but you need to turn the volume of your input device all the way up to get the volume on the Acton speaker. So if you've connected via bluetooth to your iPhone, turn the iPhone volume all the way up. Even though this is a totally logical solution now that I've found it, it escaped me initially and I thought there was something wrong with the speaker because it was so quiet. Now that the iPhone is up all the way -- WOW. You can definitely play the Acton loud enough that the neighbors will come knocking!
