Extremely difficult to put together considering the instructions are very vague. Also if you need it to fit anything larger than 51.5 inches then you need 2 large extensions...it only comes with 1! False advertisement saying it will fit up to 54 inches...it will but if you buy 2!
Love the gate however, it’s NOT black. It’s dark gray. I’m VERY disappointed. It doesn’t match my porch and that’s what I specifically bought it for. Would have gives it 5 stars but the description is not accurate. Would return but don’t have the time.
For the price I was honestly hoping to get something sturdier with a better latch system. My 3yr old is pretty much Donnie from the Wild Thornberries. It’s really hard to find something that will keep him in. The childproof latch failed to stop him, it was too easy. Back to the drawing board!
Giving this one three stars for now as I am giving it the benefit of the doubt. I just received it and put it together so I have not seen how well it holds up. I had to just figure out how to put it together. The "instructions" are small pictures with details so small that they are non-existent / useless. It seems like it is sturdy but I'll have to give it some time to see how well it works. I purchased this to use for dogs and so if it works well but the dogs have not yet jumped on it or challenged it in any way. This is a good rating for it because the instructions are useless. I installed it with the one pole extension and it was a perfect fit in the opening.
Confusing to put together. I used the pressure instead of attaching to the wall, but there is a bend in the gate. If I loosen the pressure, the gate falls. If I tighten it so it doesnt fall, there is a bend. The gate is sturdy, but is not straight.
I bought this to keep my son inside the door. My son is 2 years old and 38 inches tall, 32 pounds weight. He is not that strong considering his age. But he figured out how to open it in 2 days. Now he walked in and out of this Baby gate freely so this is not a barrier for him anymore. The building quality is very good and I totally believe the gate can block median weight animals, but as I said, not for kids over 2 or 3 years old.
Maybe this would be sturdy if I had used all the extensions but I only need 2 of he 3 extensions. I have a 4 ft opening, and the three extensions wouldn't fit the opening, I had a hard time finding a gate to fit the opening. It shakes A LOT with my kids leaning on it. I wanted something sturdy and this is not it. But I think I'll keep it and just tell my kids not to lean on the gate. (yeah right, with three kids under three) it was also kind of a pain to install. No words, only pictures. Took me an hour and a half. I am truly disappointed by this product but I doubt I'll find anything better. At least it's metal and if my kids do knock it over and get into the kitchen it'll make a loud sound and alert me :-/
It would have get more stars it the gate was a bit more sturdy at the bottom connection point where it shift easily. I had to welded a long piece of metal at the bottom to keep it straight and steady in order for it to hold up when the kids try to push and climb on it. Lucky my friend is a welder so it was free of charge but some other people might have to pay at least $50 for such welding job.
Could've been 5/5, but the insert at the bottom is ridiculous. They say to use a flathead screw driver to wedge it out, worked fine on gate 1. On gate two, they were wedged in so tight the plastic shredded as you have to torque the screwdriver against the plastic to get them out. You can't add extensions without getting this piece out and then you have to put it back in after now destroyed... There's no reason the insert should be that tight...
