Your trusted source of authentic Japanese matcha

The Naoki Matcha difference

We treat all customers like a part of our community. What you get is continuous support and guidance to help you enjoy matcha in an authentic, yet accessible way.

Since our humble beginnings, we have also built a respectable network of contacts comprising tea estates, factories and tea masters all over Japan. This lets us offer all kinds of matcha tailored to our customers’ tastes and preferences.

These are tea estates and companies that continue to do things the traditional way and still serve niche domestic markets. Their product is as good as the best brand name matcha you may have sampled in Japan.

How to decide which one is right for you

Choosing from one from a few matcha blends may be daunting. Please let us help.

  • If you're a complete beginner - you can't go wrong with our Superior Ceremonial Blend or Organic Ceremonial Blend if you prefer an organic product. They are beginner-friendly blends that strike a balance between taste and versatility.
  • For an enjoyable usucha experience, go with our Fragrant Yame Blend. It's sweetness and smooth texture will make for a pleasing experience. If you are an advanced matcha enthusiast, do also consider browsing our Master's Collection matcha blends!
  • If you mostly make matcha lattes and use plant milks, use our Organic Ceremonial Blend. It pairs great with plant milks. If you prefer regular cow's milk, use our Superior Ceremonial Blend instead.
  • If you intend to drink matcha as a caffeinated pick-me-up for sleepy afternoons, why not try it as a cold brew. That simply means cold water and matcha mixed together. We made our Cold Brew Jade Blend specially for this purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What makes Naoki Matcha different from other brands? We create blends with different tastes and preferences, each of our blends is developed to provide a unique flavor profile. For example, our Cold Brew Jade Blend is lightly sweet and has a refreshing taste whereas our Fragrant Yame Blend has buttery, floral notes and an incredibly smooth finish. Read the reviews to see for yourself.

2. I only drink matcha with milk as a latte, which grade should I get? We understand that matcha lattes are very popular these days, and in fact, have developed all our blends so that they can be prepared as lattes. However, our personal favorite for lattes is our Organic Ceremonial Blend. Non-dairy milk goes very well with its cacao notes.

3. I’m worried about radiation and heavy metals. Do you test for radiation and heavy metals in your matcha? Our matcha is tested for radiation and heavy metals by third-party laboratories. The results are consistently negative. We always ensure that the tea estates we work with have rigorous compliance and safety testing procedures in place. If needed, these testing certificates are available upon request.

4. How is the caffeine in matcha different from coffee? Matcha provides a more measured, lasting energy boost. Matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine. L-theanine is responsible for a calming effect which also slows the absorption of caffeine by the body, making the effects of coffee more gradual. Gram for gram, matcha has less caffeine than coffee.

5. How long can I keep my matcha for? If stored in an opaque, airtight container, matcha will remain fresh for about 12 months from the date it is ground. Once opened, we recommend consuming the matcha bag within 1-2 months. Refrigerating your matcha is also recommended to keep it fresh for a longer time.

6. What is the company’s policy for expiry dates? We do our best to give you the freshest possible matcha by only doing small batch shipments direct from the tea estates. This is more costly for us but ensures that our stocks in Amazon move quickly and provides the freshest matcha for you.

7. Why do you give 40 grams instead of 30 grams? In Japan, matcha is packed into either 20 or 40 grams portions. Of course, there is no right or wrong answer here but we think 40 grams is a good size to last you about a month. Besides, who doesn’t love more matcha?

8. Your packaging is beautiful! Where did you get it from? Thank you! We design it ourselves and it is inspired by the tea fields in Japan and the regional surroundings.

This was my first time purchasing Naoki. I drink matcha regularly but knew very little about quality up until I purchased this. It is very fine compared to the store bought ones Ive purchased before from the organic/health store. A little is going to definitely last me a long time. The color is very bright, the taste is very earthly, if that makes sense. I usually mix it with my collagen powder and I have had no problems with whisking. I expected clumps but nothing yet. Im definitely going to keep buying. Did I mention the packaging is impressive, Im not into the big bag look. I like to keep this in the office or on the go. Looks just elegant.

I'm a novice matcha drinker but I do know a few key points on selecting a good powder. I've tried three brands of matcha over the years and this would be my fourth. My first experience was with Teavanna which I loved and was the best out of the other brands. The second one was in store purchase which was low grade but better than the next. It was from Amazon, It was a food grade rated and not worth drinking by itself. With researching a little more about matcha and reading reviews I thought I'd give it a chance. I liked the price and amount you get along with their story.
The color is beautiful and vivid! The texture is like velvet which makes easy to whisk. I haven't had any clumps. I use a little bit of honey but the earthiness still shines through. It's rich and very smooth! Far superior to Teavanna! I will continue to reorder because this meets and exceeds my experience.
