Neato finally has figured out their battery situation with a new vendor. In the past I've replaced my Neato Batteries 2 times since owning the XV-21 in less then 1.5 years!! The batteries typically last 100-150 recharges (McNair stamping). So each time the Neato goes back to the charging base for a recharge, you are slowly eating away the life. In my situation of cleaning 1-2 times a week (3 charges each), the batteries typically last 8 months (I wish it was longer).
I always time my new batteries with a stop watch when I first get them to determine their 100% health, and track their performance degradation. In the past when replacing batteries I typically get 40-50 minutes on new batteries which will slowly fall off over the next few months. Once the battery life reaches <20 minutes I replace the batteries. For these new batteries (darker green, new box, new manufacturer it seems), I was surprised when the battery life hit 71 minutes on the first outing!! I kept waiting for the battery to die, but it kept on cleaning and cleaning. I will be interested to see how long these batteries last and I will update once they need replacement.
Please remember when you replace the batteries to reset the battery counter in the Neato setting menu "New Battery". If you don't do this the Neato will not fully discharge.
Update: according to Neato what was sent was not the genuine Neato product. No paper tags on the genuine Neato batteries. Tired of the run around between Amazon, and the rude tech @ Neato...I just kept what I got. Next time I order this directly from Neato
Once I replaced the batteries the vacuum is now running the full cycle to clean the entire upper level of my house (several rooms) and I am no longer getting the error messages. I was about to purchase a new vacuum because I thought it had died. I am glad I made this purchase instead of buying a new vacuum.
