To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
These scales seem to be very accurate and the numbers don't jump around as a previous set that I bought did. They are also a nice size so that the readout doesn't get blocked from my view while using larger bowls. Overall, a great purchase.
I've used it for multiple purposes. First, I'm diabetic and it helps me to weigh certain foods to determine the nutritional characteristics. Secondly, I've used it to determine water amount in odd containers. Third - more unusual: I used it to determine the weight of a light-weight battery operated leaf-blower my wife uses on our porches. It needs replacing and she likes the very light weight of this one.
I got the black one. It fits nicely on top of our microwave. One wouldn't even know it was there unless making a concerted look. I've not tried wetting the whole thing; I've just needed to wipe it now and then. Fingerprint smudges are the worst culprit. I've not tested for accuracy per se, but I can say it gives consistent readings.
The tare function and the button to change units of measure both work well, directly, and simply. Very convenient.
I can read the numbers just fine, even with cataract eyes!
It seems reasonably sturdy.
The auto shut off was 90 seconds on the dot. I've not had it shut off in the middle of anything I was doing; that seems sufficiently long enough.
Update: after using this for a while, I can positively comment on accuracy. The readings I get are VERY consistent with both what containers say their contents weight, AND what I get when I weight cuts of meat and things weighed at the butcher shop/grocery store. Thumbs up on accuracy. This thing has been way more helpful than I thought it would be.
Tested it with 1 kilogram of a Tungsten block, reads exactly 1,000 which is impressive! Seems to be a bit shaky in the +/-1g range, which is sufficient for me considering it goes up to 10kg. Other than that, looks nice and glass surface feels nice. Recommend!
Pros: 1. Excellent look, great materials used. 2. Looks classy and glossy. 3. Very accurate, and measures up to 10kg 4. Comes with batteries. 5. Measurements can be in SI or Imperial system. 6. Numbers are easily legible. Cons not noted at all. I am completely satisfied with the purchase and would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family. Thanks for reading!
Despite a few misleading specs and the reviews of a few unhappy users, this scale is an EXCELLENT value for the money. Despite specs like "displays +/- 0.1" units, you have to realize that a scale that can weigh anything from 1 gram to 22 lbs, cannot possibly be accurate for 1 gram or, worse, decimals thereof.
Secondly, no scale works accurately at its lower limit simply because the measurement mechanics need a little runway to start working. E.g., a high-powered race car cannot correctly and uniformly operate at 0.1 mpg when its built and scaled for 300 mph. Ditto for this scale.
I found that it can, indeed, read down to 1 gram but ONLY if you add a weight a TARE to zero. E.g., I added a small object weighing about 20 grams then hit TARE to zero the scale. I then added a 1 gram lab weight and, presto, it correctly read 1 gram.
Other comments referred to uneven sensitivity across the surface. Well, of course, it will. It's not a $1,000 lab scale. Again, this unevenness disappears when operating above its lower scale end. When you think about it, how often do you measure something of little weight without a container. One almost always uses a container or cup.
I did a few un-tared weight tests and it was always within 2g from about 2g to 9,070g (20lbs) Adding a container and using TARE to zero, it measured from 1g .
If you plan on formulating very light weights like mixing powders of a few grams or less, this is obviously NOT the scale for you. You'll have to fork out more than a $100 for decent low cost balance beam scale.
For cooking, this is a very good scale. And it comes with a LIFETIME warranty, no less!
I only took off 1 star because of the lacking verbiage of the specs, the extremely minimal manual, and some misleading promotional videos that paint everything with glossy rainbows.
Again, though, what more can you expect for such an incredibly low cost! I look forward to testing their other products when I can get a hold of them.
Scale doesn't weigh small grams at all.I used a small spoon ,had it weighed then used the Tare button to zero out.Left spoon on the scale and added powder over and over at 1/4 teaspoon increments. I did this 6 times with no different reading on the scale. I did this process 3 times with the same results. I will return the scale back to Amazon. Scale is also made in China
A great scale! Reasonably priced, fast measurement, clear digital display. I bought this to replace an old digital scale. I was eyeing the more expensive OXO, but I am very glad I bought this instead. Overall, a great product for a great price.
