Great but CAVEAT

Having three computers this was a no brainer compared to the $44 ea for online renewal. BEWARE however that if you currently have Norton with different expiration dates for your computers you cannot update each one as they expire and get the full year from that date. The 1 yr clock clock starts after you enroll the first computer. Still it may be much cheaper to do all at the same time for the great savings over online renewal. BTW Norton customer service was excellent in doing the updates on all 3 computers for me as a somewhat novice. The last 2 times I have contacted them I received excellent and prompt customer care. Be sure to register your products online and create an account with them so you can get to free customer service easier and they will have all the product key codes in your file for the future, or if your hard drive crashes and you need to re-install (which they did for me quickly recently). I don't know why the other reviewer is squawking about a 10 day trial rip-off, that is not true at all. This is for a full year for three computers. I have used Norton for many years and the current versions are much improved and take up less resources than in the past. Excellent product.

Norton 2012 anti virus disc

Purchased Norton anti virus disc from Amazon 8/2012 for my 2-year old Asus laptop with Windows 7 as I've had Norton for years. Install did not go smoothly and my computer eventually slowed to a crawl, which made getting to "help and support" nearly pointless. Used my desktop to access support and tried what appeared to be a fix from the FAQ page...no good. Uninstalled Norton and the computer is still screwed-up. Taking it to my tech Monday (which'll cost me) and moving on to Trend Micro.

***Update***The computer tech discovered the laptop had a virus, that's why Norton wouldn't load. How it got the virus I have no idea since it's ALWAYS operated with Norton current, but the tech said even Norton can occasionally miss them. It's strang that Norton DID scan the computer for viruses before it tried loading and gave the prompt that there were none.
So...my criticisms of Norton were not entirely correct, but I'm sticking with Trend Micro since that's what my new tech offers on in-store downloads.

Day after I did this review, I got an email saying I got my refund.

I purchased on Amizon, and I chose the wrong one, it was not the anti-virus that I wanted its the Nortons Security that I need. I have since purchased the security from the same company, they did not want to do an exchange. Easier for their records they say, ya easier to not give me a refund.

They are liers, I sent pkg back and never got a refund. Didnt think I needed a tracking number with that 'special number' they gave me to be written on the outside of package, "012712-1443AM" and special instructions below. They keep telling me they didnt recieve it. I was told by post office that they would recieve it on Thursday 2/2/12, I mailed it out on Monday 1/30/12.
That special number is attached to the order #104-8740038-9597855, there should be no reason they didnt recieve it.

I have multiple PCs and just want to protect them from viruses. I find the more complicated products just seem to introduce problems. I have been buying the Norton Antivirus, one user, 3 PC product for several years. It is easy to install and does the job. It is true that the activation date starts when the first copy is loaded but I find this helps to remind me that they are all due at the same time. One caution, if you buy a new copy to install when the subscription runs out, don't install the new copy until the last day. If you have 10 days left on your old subscription when you install the new copy, you will get 365 days on the new subscription, not 375 days.

Long ago I used Norton and had performance issues. Thanks to a PC World recommendation, I decided to once again give Norton a try. It did a great job of protecting my computer in the one month I used it.

BUT...I have a tuner card to watch TV. I also have a wireless printer. Neither of these devices worked reliably in the time I had this product installed. Tech support for my tuner card basically said, Norton will not play nice with your set up.

Okay, not a big deal. Just uninstall, and go with what the manufacturer recommends.

Yea, here I am 20 hours into trying to uninstall this product. Every time I uninstall, Blue Screen of Death. I am an advanced computer user and I can tell you I have never had such difficulty removing a program. Even with the so-called Norton removal programs, I cannot get my system to cooperate. I am on my laptop typing this review as I am now doing a complete re-install of Windows 7 on my Desktop. This means many more hours of work thanks to Norton Antivirus 2012.

If you want that in your future, go with this product. Otherwise, I'd pick something else.

Sorry Norton, but time to fix your product!
