Other than the taste and smell (honestly, it's not that bad), it's a great product and about $12 cheaper than the stuff I usually get (MRM - Veggie Elite Performance Protein). I bought this because I was in a crunch financially and ran out of my regular protein powder. Now, this powder you can absolutely mix with water, and it doesn't really matter, unlike most protein powders where mixing it with something else gives it a creamier taste and texture. When I take MRM, I always mix it with almond milk, but this becomes costly, considering I'm spending about $12-$16 a week on almond milk alone (I'm lactose intolerant). Drinking this with water is a lot cheaper and solves the problem of having to buy something to mix it with. It has all of the same nutritional properties that MRM does, for a cheaper price.
If you can get past the taste and smell of split-pea soup, this is an amazing plant based protein to use.
I am not sure if people are expecting this to have flavor or what - but it doesn't!
This is basic powder to be added to whatever you make.
Be aware, it will need sweetener, if that is your taste.
As to the texture - I don't mind it at all.
I mix this with:
- Frozen Strawberries
- Natural Vanilla Creamer
.....and an organic fruit juice.
Sometimes bananas - or oranges, it just depends on what I want to make.
This is also great with peanut butter, bananas, vanilla creamer, and coco.
Just play around with different flavors.
I LOVE that it's so well made and a very soft/fine powder.
Easy to blend in to anything. I only have time and eat one solid meal a day, so this is great for the rest of the day.
Awesome alternative to whey...and "whey" more protein per serving than others.
This is great stuff!
Look this stuff tastes horrible, but a couple days into using it, it doesn't even phase you, you adapt to it. Now I don't even think about smell, taste, etc. I just shake in a blender bottle or throw it in a nutribullet real quick and down it asap.
Unlike a whey protein shake with a bunch of added stuff like bananas, fruits etc...pea protein is utilitarian. The kind of stuff they'd hand out in a future dystopian society for weightlifters. It's functional, it does its job, but you'll never love it.
