Another question from some reviewers - There is minimal mention in the instructions about removing the scale platform for cleaning. The instructions mention it can be done but not how. The platform can be removed by deftly lifting up on the two opposite sides of scales and popping the platform from the two pop in fasteners holding it to the main body - the process may be a bit concerning the first time tried but it works. The platform can be popped back into place once cleaned.
The new features are nice but not game changing: The lighted display is easier to read than the previous passive display, the tare function is now part of the on/off switch. One change that to me is less desirable is that in order to turn the system off using a switch you have to depress and hold the on/off switch down for a few seconds instead of just clicking it. This change was necessitated because a simple click now is the Tare function.
The scale’s accuracy is about the same as the previous version. Using calibrated weights I find that the scale can be off by a gram, sometimes depending on whether the weight was placed directly in the center of the scale or slightly off-center. If your accuracy requirements require measurements down to a tenth of a gram use scales such as the Smart Weigh Digital Pro Pocket Scale.
So - if you’re still a pounds and ounces kind of person, sticking with the old version probably works fine. For us grams types a new purchase may be somewhat justified but not essential.
We heard the version before this one was good, but apparently this one is not so great.
