Product description
Neatly store sponges and scrubbies without sacrificing counter space. The OXO SteeL Suction Sink Basket attaches securely to sink walls with a light press. The unique oval shape of the suction cups provide a stronger hold. The Basket has a wide opening to accommodate large sponges and scrubbies, and features a smooth interior that easily rinses clean. Drain holes in the base allow excess water to drip out, keeping sponges and scrubbies dry. Pull the suction cup releases tab for easy repositioning or removal. The OXO SteeL Suction Sink Basket is made of rust-proof anodized aluminum.

The executive summary is as follows: the suction cups really grip; the basket drains well; the dull aluminum finish closely approximates the #4 finish used by appliance and sink manufacturers for the industry standard finish for stainless steel; and finally, the basket is rectangular and holds four standard 2.75" X 4.25" sponges.

The OXO might be fine with a little help from some Rapid Fuse DAP glue, but I didn't want to bond it to my sink like that.
Also note, I was very attentive to prepping the stainless steel sink to ensure a good hold by these auction cups. The suction cups just don't hold well, even when the tray is completely empty.

My problem with this product is the suction cups. From my experience, it seems that OXO suction cups are worthless. After about a month of usage, these suction cups didn't stick onto the sink anymore. I tried cleaning them, using just a thin film of water, etc. Nothing keeps them from losing suction and sliding down the sink wall. I purchased an OXO shower squeegee years ago and noticed the same thing with the suction cup for that as well. The squeegee sits on the floor of the shower now as a daily reminder of buyer's remorse. The suction cup for the squeegee actually did not even last as long as the ones for this basket. That one stopped working after about a week.
When I was deciding on a sink basket, it came down to this one and the Simplehuman one. It looks like I chose poorly. I don't know if the suction cups on the Simplehuman model are any better, but it does have a support bar that looks like it will help keep the basket in place more securely.
Another gripe I had with this basket is in the name. The product is called "OXO SteeL Rust-Proof Aluminum Suction Sink Basket" Is it steel or aluminum? Please don't advertise it as possibly being stainless steel as some people might make the mistake of running this through the dishwasher to clean out the gunk only to ruin the anodized aluminum finish.

It is well sized for a sponge+scrubber but not big enough for a long brush used for deep glasses. You could also put a small dish soap bottle in this thing instead of scrubbers. The bottom will drain water, so a bar of soap would work reasonably well.
Since this clings to the side of the sink with suction cups, don't expect it to hold anything heavy. Also, It will slowly slip on most surfaces and need to be reapplied. The two suction cups are large and oval shaped. They have more surface area than most comparable sink baskets.
I would buy this product again.
