“Dr. Seuss ignites a child’s imagination with his mischievous characters and zany verses” The Express

About the Author

Theodor Seuss Geisel – better known to his millions of fans as Dr. Seuss – was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children’s books, which included the creation of the one and only ‘The Cat in the Hat’, published in 1957.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unashamed optimism leaps out from almost every page
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 8 March 2019
Quite simply, this is a fantastic book, with exclamation marks galore!!! It makes me smile. It inspires a positive mental attitude. It makes me want to grab the nearest child (preferably one of my own), sit them down and impart the words of advice held within. The unashamed optimism leaps out from almost every page as the story follows a little boy in a yellow onesie on his journey through many weird and brightly-coloured places. I like to think of it as the first child-friendly self-help book, full to the brim with positive messages.

However, if like me you are more of a realist than an optimist, you will particularly like the notes of caution and realism peppered amongst the positivity. My favourites: 'Un-slumping yourself is not easily done.' And: 'Step with care and great tact and remember that Life's a Great Balancing Act.'
