100% UNIFORM FOR COMPLETE NUTRITION IN EVERY BITE
Small pets are picky eaters by nature. All Oxbow foods are 100% uniform to prevent unhealthy selective eating tendencies commonly found with mix-based diets.
FORMULATED WITH THE GUIDANCE OF VETERINARIANS & NUTRITIONISTS
All Oxbow foods are formulated with the guidance of veterinarians and nutritionists. Small animal owners all over the world use and recommend Oxbow foods.
AN ESSENTIAL PART OF A BALANCED DIET
The ideal herbivore diet should include a daily recommended amount of a high quality uniform food. Rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas should have unlimited access to fresh, high quality grass hay. Offer fresh greens and treats in moderation.
PREMIUM NUTRITION FOR THE HEALTH AND HAPPINESS OF YOUR PETS
RICH IN ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxidants play an essential role in the health and performance of your pets. Oxbow Essentials foods are rich in beneficial antioxidants.
MADE WITH PREBIOTICS & CHELATED MINERALS
Prebiotics support health by providing food for the good bacteria in your pet's GI tract. Chelated minerals are more easily absorbed than other mineral sources to ensure your pet's health.
NO REFINED SUGARS OR ARTIFICIAL INGREDIENTS
Small pets don't encounter refined sugars in the wild. These ingredients (including glucose, dextrose, and corn syrup) are unhealthy for small pets and can lead to serious health problems.
NO SEEDS, FRUITS, OR "MYSTERY" BITS
Many mix-based diets contain seeds, fruits, and miscellaneous pieces which are often high in carbohydrates and simple sugars. These ingredients promote selective feeding and can lead to a variety of health issues.

Here are a few of my rescue Chins.

Here are a few of my rescue Chins.
We thought nothing of this, and eventually one day I noticed his eye starting to water almost uncontrollably. We took him to an exotic vet (because our little guys cant go to a normal place) and they noted that because he wasn't eating the pellets and only the treats it slightly deformed his jaw line and his back molars began over growing causing him discomfort (malocclusion), which untreated, can cause death.
Side note** Chinchillas eat hay pellets to naturally grind down their back molars (Chinchillas teeth continuously grow over time, if they were to never grind down their teeth, they would grow into the roof of their mouth and cause eventual and painful death)
After we learned that we were basically causing our Chinchilla pain due to the food choices we provided him, and after a week of tube feeding him like a baby because of his dental surgery we decided to find an alternative.
We switched over to Oxbow Animal Heath Chinchilla food. It took him a couple of weeks to understand that his treat food wasn't coming back. But he eventually started eating the hay pellets again! I now buy this food exclusively for our little guy, and he hasn't needed another trip back to the dentist.
Don't make the same mistake we did. Buy Oxbow Animal Health Chinchilla Fortified Small Animal Feed. It ended up being perfect for our little guy, and it will be perfect for yours. Guaranteed.
The chinchilla are better off with plain, high quality chinchilla pellets, and not blends that have raisins and other treats already added (as your chinchilla will eat all the snacks before the pellets, which is bad for keeping them on a good diet and minimizing excessive carbs).
The bag of pellets also contained very little “dust”, compared to the Exotic Nutrition chinchilla diet with rose hip that I have also purchased. So definitely happy with the quality of the product from that attribute.
I will not be opposed to ordering it in the future, although I am now using Mazuri Chinchilla Diet as it seems to be recommended by all the chinchilla experts/owners I follow online, on social media or have posted in depth blogs for newie chinchilla owners.
I guess this is good food, they ate it, they never got sick or anything. I won't buy it again though because they prefer other food, and this one is expensive, though the other foods are all raising their prices to a similar level now. I hate greedy profiteers.
