Let me first start by saying that I first took my required 35 hours of PMP training in April 2020. Due to the pandemic and issues with getting my license renewed because the DMV was not accepting clients for so long, this whole PMP adventure has been long and drawn out. Based on the previous training and my reliance on the PMBOK guide I become somewhat jaded about even taking the exam. Unfortunately reading the PMBOK was dry and hard to follow. I felt like while I was literally just memorizing concepts and terms; I was not necessarily reaching a foundational understanding of them. As the end of the year came, the DMV became available and my license was renewed. I had about four weeks to take the exam before it changed in January. Due to work conflicts, etc., this just did not happen. Many people advised me that I had made a big mistake by not taking it before it changed. I figured once the new year came, I would find some alternate study resources so I could modify my study plan for the new exam. Well, let me tell you, waiting to take the exam has been the BEST decision! I literally stumbled across tons of YouTube videos about the new PMP exam. I watched so many of them. It was not until I came across Andrew Ramdayal’s YouTube site that I got excited about the PMP. I had reached a point where I really did not care if I even took the exam. But after viewing all of Andrew’s YouTube videos on the subject this changed. I immediately jumped on Amazon and ordered this exam prep guide! This book, in conjunction with the 35-hour self-paced course that Andrew provides, has been the most helpful and amazing thing. The whole Agile tie in is so refreshing since it ties in closely with my Scrum Master background! Everything makes so much more sense! I am scheduled to take my exam on March 20th and for the first time since I began this endeavor, I am extremely excited about that. Andrew has an amazing way of making the concepts click! It just makes sense when he says it! Watching his videos are like having a conversation with a friend; it feels relaxed and so casual which makes for effective learning. I would HIGHLY recommend this book (or anything that Andrew puts out) to anyone who really wants to have a solid understanding of the concepts.

This made me relaxed and glad I chose the right answer in the beginning but needed clarity. I'll recommend this book to anyone preparing for the PMP exam.

Buyer Beware! It's an expensive book to have so many errors!

In the first chapter I read, I said to a friend, "I may need to bust out my red pen," because there were grammatical and formatting problems. But honestly, I wasn't going to let that be a problem for me if the substance was educational and helpful. Unfortunately, it was not just cosmetic. I've been taking a prep test, have read PMBoK once over thoroughly, and a couple more on a higher level. I've read Rita's PMP Exam Book fully, and a couple of times at a higher level. I've read the Agile Practice Guide. I've answered 685 questions (not including Rita's exercises or her exam questions at the end of her chapters). I've watched YouTube videos to help fill in some gaps I was having. I've written out the glossaries twice, created a document with every visual diagram/chart noted in any of the books, I've created formula sheets that help me visualize and memorize the formulas better, I've even started a repository for every acronym I find. I've memorized all of the knowledge areas and processes and can recite them by heart with not a single problem. The only thing I haven't done yet that I'm intent on doing is making myself flashcards for the ITTOs and finding better sources for the new testing formats to take over and over again. In that vein am frequently trying to find new resources to help me continue to learn more, and most importantly take tests after tests after tests. I read the first 4 chapters of this book, skipped the ones in between (because I've read about the knowledge areas ad nauseum) and then I read the last 3 chapters. The first 4 chapters were ok, but I felt like they were not really helpful and I was becoming concerned there was some deviation from what I had already learned, but wasn't confident enough to say exactly what. The last few chapters were REALLY helpful and actually lowered my perpetually high-stress levels about the upcoming exam. What really made me need to write a review, however, was the mock test. This is why you should not buy this book until he comes out with another update. This version of it seems like it was hastily written to get to market early in time for the new 2021 test version, and the test questions are not written well. For example, a network diagram is in the middle of the answers of one question that is not about network diagrams, and the actual question about network diagrams is on the next page, 2 questions later. When I scored my answers I was concerned that some of the answers I was really confident I had right, were marked wrong. When I started going back after ticking off the correct/ incorrect answers, to get more insight, I realized that the book's answers WERE wrong, not mine! In one, they gave 2 answers to 1 question that required 1 answer. In another, the explanation they gave is completely contradictory to the letter answer that they said is correct. A couple of others I cross-referenced with the PMBoK and the book's questions were totally contradictory to the PMBoK. I caught 4 answers in total that were wrong from this book, and I didn't even check the ones I was "correct," on to see if I was actually incorrect. I just didn't have time to. I consider those 4 hours I purposely spent taking that mock exam, taking my required breaks, and rechecking ones I marked for review (to model a real test), as a waste of my time. I have no real idea as to how well I did and if these questions were even relevant to the new test in any way. So I recommend that you wait until either another edition comes out, or go find another source for your needs. I hate writing bad reviews but I thought it necessary to protect others from learning the wrong things.

The book is pretty clear in concepts but had a horrible editor. I wish I had chosen something with a better review. Many of indentations and bullets are misaligned, words are missing letters and in the photo attached you can see that there are 4 main roles I need to know for my test but they only list 3??? Hopefully they meant 3 and not 4.

I have researched many PMP Prep programs, classes, and books. I have taken many free practice tests and have listened to a variety of PMP Prep podcasts. Out of all my research experiences, I have chosen to use Andrew's material as my primary source of information. The book reads well and the practice questions are in-depth with explanations on the correct answers. The content that can be accessed online with the book is also a fantastic tool. When I have a question regarding the PMP Exam and the material, I simply send Andrew and his team an email and their response time is almost always the same day. I have also participated in several of Andrew's online/live training classes. These aren't just classes where you listen to the content. They are very interactive and engaging. If you are looking to advance your career with a PMP Certification, I highly recommend Andrew's content and the support structure him and his team provide.
