Following several years with the Special Forces during the Vietnam war, Phil Town returned to the United States and supported himself working seven months a year as a river guide in the Grand Canyon. His annual income was in the low four figures. After some split-second heroics on his part saved a boatload of Outward Bound trustees from a whitewater disaster, a grateful financial expert who had been on board took Town under his wing and taught him the first principles of Rule #1 investing. Town managed to put together a $1000 stake and within five years had turned it into $1 million. Today Town is worth many multiples of that and appears regularly on the same dais as people like Rudy Giuliani, Tommy Franks and Colin Powell, instructing up to 30,000 people at a time in the art of successful investing. He is the author of Rule #1 and Payback Time.

There is some good info. in this book but it references showing the evaluations on the paybacktimebook.com website which Phil Town no longer has the domain name for. On his website Ruleoneinvesting.com it does not have the info. that was brought up in the book. I think for that reason THIS BOOK SHOULD SELL FOR $2. It brings up good concepts on Stockpiling and Floors and Ceilings as well as some of the Rule1 evaluation info. but is lacking the clear work to show how valuations were arrived at.
Not as good as "Rule #1," but better than "Invested," this book is just fine. He includes a lot of same info from "Rule #1," just loosely repackaged. The only really new and original part was a section on charting floors and ceilings, but it was a little rushed and seemed more like speculation (guessing) than analysis. More explanation of this section might have helped.
He does plug his website a whole lot, and he makes tons of references to the "current" financial meltdown. All told, I think his publishers saw the market crashing and they told Phil to crank out another book. Since Phil rarely mentions this one on his podcast, I think it's his last favorite.
I wished I had come across this book in 2009/2010 time frame when it came out. This book is great and should be read after the author's "Rule # 1" book. (The Rule # 1 book has lot of concepts for new investors , unlike this book which mainly explains about Stock piling). I strongly recommend that people Read Rule # 1 1st before reading this book. I really wish the author start writing a book on options investing. He does invite people to his 3 days Free Seminars.
Phil Town books are a must read, over and over, if you want to build wealth. I find myself rereading them more than once a year. I have hard copies to loan to friends, plus the Kindle version to read while on the road. He has a friendly easy style and gets his points across in a powerful, practical way. His website is amazing. Be sure to check it out as well. I took the time to fly to Atlanta and attend one of his seminars, which was incredible, although fast paced for me. I met Phil and his wife, and he is as authentic in person as he comes across in his books. I am following what he teaches and making good progress in my investments.

Great book! I'm about to start it over again to run calculations on some companies I'm interested in.
This is part 2 of Phil Town's Rule#1 book.
The only thing I disliked was that it kept referring constantly to see additional information in a website that no longer exists. This is the reason I gave it 4 stars.
