The “burgundy” folders I ordered are not burgundy! They are so different from the product photo that I had to check to make sure I didn’t order the wrong color. They are more of a mulberry color, a muted purple. I will keep these since as file folders they get the job done and it’s not worth the hassle to return them...but am still going to order the red folders as well, since those are the colors I needed for my organizational system.

As background: Awhile back I bought the extra sturdy extra wide Pendaflex folders - the extra wide ones have been lasting fine and are doing what they need to do, but for some filing needs the extra wide pendaflexes take up too much room. -So I bought the regular sized Pendaflexes, which is the item I am reviewing here. Underscore: the regular size pendaflexes are being used for LIGHT filing. I still have extra wide pendaflexes for bulkier filing.Reviewed in the United States on 29 September 2019
Re this item, the regular pendaflexes: On the very first day of use (less than an hour of use!) one paper side of one pendaflex gave out completely by simply tearing/falling apart at (and only at) both metal hanging parts. See photos. You can see there is hardly any wear anywhere on the folder except the tears where the pendaflex paper meets the metal on the one side. The other side is fine. The metal didn’t bend or break but the pendaflex paper simply tore off the metal hanging part (on only one side). I hardly ever write one star reviews, but I hope the quality is better on the rest of the box. If they all are defectively weak like this then they’re useless. My husband says I can use moving tape to repair the pendaflex since the metal isn’t broken, so hopefully not a total loss. Sad, these used to be great. Generic probably no worse than this! I must be getting old: They don’t make ‘em like they used to!

I have been using Pendaflex hanging file folders for years, and these ones are not as heavy duty as others I have used. The paper is thinner and the metal is more flexible. I actually got one caught on my file box while loading it and bent the metal piece because it was so soft and flexible. It bent right back no problem and can still be used. Despite these being designed for more lightweight use, they are strong enough and will work great in my home office. The color is beautiful. I used a flash, so they may be a little bit darker in real life, but the photo is pretty accurate. I would order these again for my home office, but I would go with the stronger Pendaflex files if ordering for my workplace.
