como lo dice el titulo solo he tenido la ocasión de usarlo una vez al reparar una pequeña fuga en el escape de mi motoneta y quedo perfecto. La uso casi a diario y la reparación ya tiene varias semanas y sin problemas y solo use un poco. Recomiendo este producto definitivamente.
I actually really like this stuff. I fixed my BMW 740IL Transmission Cooler Regulator Valve that I broke a female fitting off of. It takes a lot to knead this stuff thoroughly to a nice goldish brown color and it’s almost like a dense playdoe when applying it. And yes you can smooth it out with a little water on your fingers before the epoxy is cured. I let it sit over night and today the stuff is hard as a rock. If your using it on plastics like I did, be sure to take 90 grit sand paper and scratch up the surface your applying it to. I noticed it didn’t stick when I got some on the smooth surface of the valve. We’ll see if it leaks under operating pressures and engine antifreeze temps. I’ll update the review once I get the car all back together and perform a leak check.
Lexus exhausts are notorious for rotting out because they wrap the exhaust in some insulation and weld shields. So I had some nice holes. The welds usually rot. The OEM is almost 2 grand, because you are replacing 7' of cat converters and resonators. Replacing with cheap tubing is not a good idea, the salt destroys it in two years. The rest of the pipe is fine. So this stuff, and an oversized lap band clamp to slightly squeeze the putty does the trick. Be sure to rough it up. Other clamps could work too if it is on a curved section. It goes on as a thick putty and dries really rock hard. An exhaust shop did a state inspection and the tech was curious about the product, he said it seems stronger than the metal where it stuck out of the clamp. I had the package in the glove compartment and he took a picture.
Prep with an angle grinder brush and some brake clean. The clamp is probably optional, but it will reinforce the repair to last the life of the car. I will update if it fails.
I have/had a leaking and cracked EGR tube at a cast iron manifold. Used this epoxy around the tube at the crack. Using a remote temp sensor (250F limit?) I think the temp only got to around 250F right next to the manifold...so it should work on most parts of an exhaust except a cast iron manifold and maybe near a cat converter. Also used it to seal around a muffler connx. Time has not passed yet though...durability?
Tried using furnace cement with fiberglass added and covered with alum sheet and clamp...did not last.
I've used putty epoxy (different brands) to seal a rusted galvanized water pipe and it has lasted for maybe 5 yrs....also used it with concrete outdoors and it has lasted at least 10 yrs. Wonderful stuff if used correctly...clean surfaces well using sandpaper...knead well and into surfaces.
I had a small exhaust leak I sealed with this at the manifold in my truck, still not sure if this will hold up, but so far a few days has passed and I haven't had a problem......so Time will tell I guess!! Other than that good product as far as "ease of use" and got into the tight spot I needed to seal the leak at!!
