Pros: This little device is pretty well constructed for the price. It is entirely a heavy metal and should hold up pretty well to drops and just clunking around in your pocket if you choose to add it to your key ring. The blade is also very sharp. I've opened 4 cigars with it and it has done a great job. The o-ring around the connection point not only assures water and moisture will not get in and rust your blade, but also creates a very tight seal. The first time I tried to open it I had to use those rubber lid openers for the kitchen to help me.
Cons: Though this device is well built, there is one design fault. Most punches I have owned have been equipped with a way to remove the tobacco from the inside after you make the punch. Whether is be a tool connected, to a slot in the back to push it back out, they have had something. This one has nothing. If you are punching several cigars, or use it regularly, you will need to find something (a paper clip has worked for me) to clear it out. Just be careful to not bend the blade!
Recommendation: I think this is an OK product and a safe purchase. It works, but you could do better. The price is right that you could carry it along on a camping trip or something and not really worry about what happens to it. If I had to purchase again, I would do one of two things: 1. For a couple dollars more this product is offered in a set of five. That is definitely a great deal. If one is bent from cleaning or gets overly clogged you still have plenty more to fall back on. 2. Spend a dollar or two more and get one with some punch removal device built into the construction.
3 Stars- I like it and will use it often, especially for events I don't want to take and keep up with a nicer cutter. However, for an everyday punch it is just OK, you can do better.
