Quality not as good as expected.

The received product is not as good as the one seen in the pictures. However, it works for what it is meant for and is not flimsy.

- The received product does not have the panda logo you see in the product images
- The received product is much lower quality than the one in the pictures. A lot of splinters and quite rough surfaces.
- Does not feel as sturdy as the ones I have used in the past.
- The bamboo color of the actual product is way more green than in the pictures.

I bought this without knowing I could just go to a local Asian grocery store and buy one for like $10. It seemed to be a great fit but it's starting to warp a little after repeated use which I guess is to be expected but for $30 I would expect something better.

Don’t touch your fish with it

Exactly you as described. Would like to get a larger one eventually. It does have a “green earthy” smell at first. I recommended soaking in warm water then sprinkling on some baking soda, give a light scrub, give a good douse with white vinegar, rinse with hot water very well, then soak in the sink filled with cold water for an hour. Rinse with joy water again then drip dry. I turned my over to its lowest setting (170° F). When it came to temp I put the steamer in separated for about 5 minutes then turned the oven off. The steamer had a mostly neutral smell afterwards. I recommend this because it’s exactly what I didn’t do before my first use. I just washed it with soap and hot water. I know steaming fish was partly to blame being the first dish I made in it, which I learned on YouTube the best Waylon steam fish is on a plate because that stank does NOT go away easily. But I’m loving it other than that. Used it twice so far and I got it two days ago. Pop-pop needed the night off so tonight it was Hamburger Helper.

Ordered this steamer, when it first came, the top cover is broken. Have Amazon to replace the item and 2nd shipment came in fine. However, upon first use, one of the bamboo steamer inside is cracked and folded... I guess this is an overall poor quality steamer...

I don’t usually write negative reviews but I’m just so disappointed with this that I had to write about it. I have followed the caring/cleaning direction to the T. After couple times of use, the edge of the bamboo tray starts to warp and the edges are no longer flushed to the edge. I tried contacting the seller and all I received back was they have never received such feedback from other customers. Bottom line, I’m very disappointed in the quality of this product and money was not well spent.

Great product and value, I would recommend. I traditionally use a double steamer pot but purchased this to make buns. I love that it comes with the paper liners (it comes with A TON!) and it’s just a really lovely bonus to also have some chopsticks and a sauce dish included. They also have an offer card to get a free dimsum set as a thank you with purchase. Lately it feels like half of the things I order show up broken, packaged poorly or dirty. I was expecting a poor quality splintering steamer (like what I’ve seen in stores and why I never bought one before). This is strong and great quality. It was sealed with heat wrap plastic, was clean and in perfect shape. I’ll definitely order from this shop again.

I just received this and can't wait to use it. I will keep you guys updated with its performance. It was very nice of the company to include 2 pairs of chopsticks and a sauce dish. I placed the two pairs of chopsticks against my regular sushi restaurant ones as a comparison for you guys to see. This company's ones are thicker and fits more snug in my hands. The sauce dish is also very nice, deep enough to not make a mess while dipping. The main squeeze, the bamboo steamer, is measured at 12in but the actual inner part where food is placed is measured about 11in, which serves me just fine. Just like my other bamboo steamer this is replacing it does have a "woodsey" scent which has easily washed away just like my other one in just one go in the sink

Love my 12” Bamboo Steamer

My steam came exactly as described. It is very well made and sturdy, as evidenced by my photos. It is a very pretty yellow bamboo color and the construction detail is excellent. Both of the steamer sections ore interchangeable, making it very easy to use, not having to worry which section goes on top. The sections have a large enough capacity size To make it very easy to steam different types of food at one time (dumplings & veggies).

The steamer was well-packaged and did not have any “dings or bruises” except for the natural imperfections of the bamboo wood. When I unwrapped the steamer it was covered with a fine dusty residue, but it was easily washed off with warm soapy water and then air dried.

I look forward to many steamed dishes using my bamboo steamer.

Asian Steamed Dumplings Ready To Go

Was so excited to get this very quickly as a Prime Member. I have had my eye on it for some time now. Not only do you get the steamer, they even included other useful items to get you going instead of having to make additional purchases: 50 steamer liners for the bamboo baskets, two sets of wooden chopsticks, and a sauce dish.

Unfortunately, while everything looked fine from the outside, one of the bamboo layers had wood that was close to being split in 2 different places. My concern is this is a new product, unused, and I am unsure it will hold up to the use I am planning to put it through. The sturdiness is not what I expected.

I shall reach out to Amazon for a replacement. While I may not be able to make dumplings as planned for this weekend, I am still looking to make them in the near future. Amazon has always been understanding with any issues that I have had in the past and I hope this situation is no different this time.

When this issue is resolved and I have used this product, I will certainly come back and review it again.

Large - Sturdy - Quality Steamer

I chose the 12" as I had made bao "buns" in a smaller steamer, and they were too little to make a nice sandwich. I figured I would be able to make them bigger with a larger steamer. I was so excited that I was able to fit the entire recipe of bao dumplings in the two layers of this 12" steamer. I probably shouldn't have done that, but - really - even though somewhat crowded - they turned out fantastic. This steamer is made very well - very sturdy. I was surprised at how easy it was too clean - but I was diligent about washing it right away. My only warning - make sure you have a large enough pan/pot to accommodate this steamer. Thank goodness I did! The other reason I chose this steamer - each layer is over 3" deep.
