I've been using it for about two weeks now and I'm really enjoying it. It took some getting used to but now it is starting to just feel.... right. Once you play around and get it configured the way you want to, you'll have a blast with it.
The carrying case is a nice touch and includes a stretchy mesh net inside to store the 10 foot long usb cable that is required to use the controller.
A quick note, though: there is an issue with input lag that can only be fixed by doing a firmware upgrade on the controller (which is easy to do, you just download the firmware updater and plug the controller into your PC then follow the steps on screen). The only problem with that is for some reason Razer won't post the link to the firmware update that fixes it on their site. They have other versions, but not the right one. I'm fairly certain that I can't post links in reviews so I'm sure it can be found by searching for "Razer Raiju firmware updater v1. 11.00." Hope this helps anyone purchasing this.
However, I the R1 mircoswitch failed around the 2-3 month mark. under warranty, great. Repressing my DIY impulses, I figured lets let the warranty do it's job. Hmmmm can't see any address to send for warranty issues.. Guess I'll do a quick Customer Service chat to get it.. WOW, over an HOUR and 10 minutes later of a soul crushing conversation, they FINALLY said they would send the RMA, and to expect a shipping label in my email.. Let me post a snippet of the exchange:
Order Support (9:45:13 AM):Can you confirm if it is a physical issue rather than a software one?
Me (9:45:28 AM):absolutely..
Order Support (9:45:39 AM):Alright. Can I ask a video of the device where I can see the issue that you mentioned so I can verify it for you?
Me (9:46:07 AM):hmm how do you want to do that?
Order Support (9:46:37 AM):As long as I can see that the R1 button is not responding when you use it.
Me (9:47:18 AM):that's quite a bit of trouble.. you want me to email you a video file?
Order Support (9:47:40 AM):You can attach it here by dragging or browsing it from your computer.
Order Support (9:47:47 AM):You can also upload it on a video sharing websites for your convenience. Just provide me the link.
Me (9:50:40 AM):I'm not even sure what game I can really show you clearly on.
Order Support (9:51:35 AM):Is there a way that I can verify the issue?
Me (9:54:41 AM):yeh, I'm 100% positive. It works but not like the other button, I have to press it in a different area to get it to respond. I'm 48, I've well versed in fixing electronics, the microswitch is broken or something else is.
They wanted me top shoot a video showing that a button isn't working. Crazy. Say I got a DePalma split diopter shot of the TV and me tapping a button. Then I say, see, Mario should jump. But he isnt. Just a ludicrous practice. How about if the controller isn't broken, you don't fix it? How about not treating me like an imbecile? Ok. Call ended. FINALLY. Then guess what? THEY FORGOT TO SEND THE SHIPPING LABEL!! I had to take time out of another day to call and remind them. Will send in after Memorial Day. If there is another issue, I'm going to court.. I want my 2 hours back!
The thing is... it just doesn't work properly. I was using it for single player games and madden. First thing I had to do was remove the rear triggers and screw them down so they cant be touched accidentally. Except they are still there just flat, and can be used accidentally.
The first gripe i noticed using it was accidentally having these triggers get in the way.
Then I started to notice weird things while using it. Using the turbo button in madden (R2) it would have no pressure until the bottom, then click. It wasn't like a trigger with a full band of resistance, which is what is needed as turbo isn't on or off its throttled. So I cant appropriately apply pressure, and when I want to hold it down all the way it makes a weird clicking sound and throws everything off. There should not be a button at the bottom of the trigger, it should just be a trigger.
Nail in the coffin was the joysticks. While they felt great, I kept having my player randomly change direction. This doesn't happen with the normal controller. After playing with it for a few weeks I realized it was the sticks simply picking up input that was not there. It made it unusable. You cant have a joystick that randomly moves (fast and at a high sensitivity) when not being touched.
So yea. No support NA. The only good things about this are the weight, and the long USB cord. I still use the USB cord. The controller is sitting around doing nothing. I would sell it... but I wouldn't wish this on any other gamer. I have another friend who got the same controller against my warning and gave it away after a week.
So yea. Razer makes some great products.... but in my experience nothing expensive I have got from them has been worth it or even worked. I will stick with cheap chromas and deathadders. Last time I spend over $100 on anything Razer. All polish, no function. Sadly I am back to DS4 controller... this one hurts.
