I had to spend a lot of time to get this thing to work due to Renogy's terrible support. I had an issue with the charger having a solid green light but the charging amps on my shunt would jump around like crazy and eventually drop to zero. I found that this was caused by cheap thermal breakers on the input and output of the charger. Once I replaced with ANL fuses I get a stable charge from this thing. I submitted a ticket to Renogy and they were unable to help me and no matter when you call you're going to wait hours on hold. For this reason I think it's better to spend the extra money for a well supported and documented product from Stirling. Trust me the time you will waste on this thing isn't worth the $100 less in upfront cost.
The good Once everything is in order the product works as expected
The bad Renogy support is absolutely garbage Renogy manuals are terrible Not enough troubleshooting documentation.
Bought 60A charger and 40A as a backup to charge lithium batteries. 60A charger draws about 75A and outputs 56A. (heats up to 100F even on half load). 40A charger draws about 48A and outputs just under 39A. (heats up around 90F).
Was hoping to use 60A charger with 100A alternator as it is recommended to use 60% of rater current but 75A is way too much and drains battery too quickly. Will try voltage sensitive relay at some point but not sure if the charge rate will be better with cut offs than of 40A charger in long term usage.
