A wholesome blend of dried peaches, apricots, plums, bell peppers, carrots, tomatoes, and cabbage combined with Roudybush Daily Maintenance pellets and a healthy dose of sunshine. Use this diet when switching your bird from its old diet to Roudybush. Continue to feed to adult birds that are not laying eggs or feeding . Lories and lorikeets, which will accept this diet, will have drier droppings than they have on nectar. If you have a bird that is a chronic egg-layer or a bird with a tendency to develop hypocalcaemia (like African Greys), mix 2/3 Maintenance with 1/3 High-Energy Breeder to supply more calcium and vitamin D3. Do not give additional vitamin or mineral supplements. Fresh fruit and vegetable treats may be given as a minor part of the diet.

They've had Roudybush since they came to live with me (when they were 6mo old) and I supplement with fruits and veggies, so I wasn't against giving them a mix. When I gave it to them for the first time, they were so excited! They like having their food back, and have really enjoyed finding the dried fruits. Now, every meal time there's happy chattering, instead of grouching! I feel like I have my happy little birds back!
There is a lot of waste, of course. Once they've turned the pellets into a mealy texture, they deem it no longer fit to eat. But that's true of almost anything you feed birds. They're designed to make a mess and scatter seeds (and food) for planting.
The California Blend is the same as the less expensive Daily Maintenance plus dried fruit & vegetable pieces. My birds prefer the pellets to the fruits and vegetables so in the future I plan to buy a large bag of Daily Maintenance and mix it with a smaller bag of California Blend. They'll still get as much of the extras as they want and I'll save a little money.
