5.0 out of 5 stars Good price but not sure about the quality
Reviewed in the United States on 22 November 2019
Just ordered this with good sub-$100 deal for 1TB. (Thx to slickdeals.net) Drive is in nice aluminum metal package. Use this as my Windows 10 VM main drive on Mac. Preliminary testings seem to be OK. Windows seems to be boot up and function as fast as other SSD. However, I'm getting mixed results with BlackMagic and AmorphousDiskMark (CrystalDisk clone for Mac) File copying does reach to advertised speed (almost 1000MBs)

Drive is pre-formatted to ExFat. On Mac, need to use Terminal, DiskUtils, and dd to re-format it into APFS to get the advantages of SSD speed under Mac.

I left the Win10 VM running all day long and the drive is only getting lukewarm. So far I like this drive, but will come back and update this review if I encounter any issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Speeds
Reviewed in the United States on 26 November 2019
I own a bunch of external USB drives from various companies and various speeds. I was so excited to get this drive that promises transfer speeds upto 1000MB/s and when I connected it to my PC and tried copying a few files, I was shocked to see that the copy speeds were close to 30MB/s from my NVMe M.2 hard drive. I tried copying different types of files - photos, videos, movies etc. Same results. To make sure that the problem was with this drive and not the USB port, I tried copying the same files to my Samsung T5, I got my typical speeds of 250-500 MB/s with the T5.

As a last resort, tested this Sabrent Drive with Crystal diskmark software and the software too was only getting less than 40MB/s at best. A random 4K read clocked was only 18.65 MB/s.

It wouldn't take a genius to guess that I immediately initiated the return of this device. I am not sure if I will go for this brand again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant little drive vs. Samsung T5
Reviewed in the United States on 3 January 2020
As a global commuter for work, size and weight of the things I carry are very important. I already own several of the little Samsung T5 drives but they're all 512GB. To support backups on a new 1TB MacBook Pro 16", I needed a larger capacity drive. Other reviews I read lead me to an interest in this little drive by Sabrent. I thought the Samsung T5 was small. This Sabrent is half the width, and a few millimeters shorter and only 1mm taller. The metal case is very solid feeling and it manages the temperature well. I thought the drive, being so small, might get a little warmer than the Samsung but in fact it runs cooler. This barely gets above room temperature even under extended write periods. I haven't verified the speed claims of the drive but I can tell you that it runs a Windows 10 image via Parallels on my Mac as though it were installed on the internal drive. No latency whatsoever. Same as the Samsung T5, in that regard.
I've not had this drive long enough to make any claims on reliability but after a few months, I'll update my review with that information. If it holds up as well as my T5 drives have, I can say I've found my new favorite hard drive.
