Works great at catching most of the gnats but won't get rid of the problem completely. I had a gnat problem for 6 months I finally figured out if I use the sticky stakes in conjunction with "garden safe houseplant and garden insect killer spray"I got rid of all of them. I sprayed the soil about once a week and completely got rid of the gnats. I'm finally gnat free.

These are terrific. Very sticky and do not dry up. They catch the tiny gnats that fly around the surface of potted plants. These are not for fruit flies. But for a complete solution, one also needs to kill the microscopic larvae in the moist soil. So withhold watering and sprinkle some food-grade diatomaceous earth around the top soil of affected plants. DE will not hurt the plants and is nontoxic. Also when repotting it is best to sanitize the new soil before use. I do this by placing the entire bag of potting soil in a black heavy-duty construction trash bag and leave in full sun for a day or two. This heats it up to over 120 degrees F. and kills the gnat larvae or eggs present. For small amounts of soil you can place on a tray in the oven set to 200F for an hour or so. Happy gardening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Successful in conjunction with pebbles!

These definitely catch annoying fungus gnats. I have used some gnat killer spray directly to the soil to kill the gnats but after one of my succulents died after using it I was hesitant. My local nursery recommended these traps and prefers them over the spray. While I don't feel they get rid of the problem completely I have found other ways to eliminate them in conjunction with these traps. I add pretty pebbles to the top of the soil. I have found the cheapest place to purchase with the most quantity is aquarium rocks from pet stores. I purchased a 20 pound bag for $20.00 and it helped cover my 50 pots with plenty left over (you can purchase smaller bags as well)! These pebbles help create a barrier from gnats getting to the soil to lay eggs and creates a barrier from hatched gnats to get out. Just make sure to cover the soil completely! I also make sure to put the yellow traps on the bottom notch as they fly low. I have found I catch more when they are placed lower rather than higher. This has helped eliminate those annoying gnats!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do these people think we're stupid? They only give you enough traps to fill out 3 sticks, not 7.

Holy cow these suckers work! I'm so grossed out by the result, but at the same time I have a sick sense of satisfaction. I used these in my house plants that are breeding fungus gnats like crazy. I used them in conjunction with beneficial nematodes, and they definitely cut down on the number of gnats in our house. Unfortunately I added a new house plant, plus repotted one that had outgrown its prior home, and we are wrapped up in them again. I'm buying another package of sticky traps as soon as I finish this review!
