These clippers have a light that is so bright that it blinds you as you attempt to clip the nails. You can't even angle them in another direction to redirect the light because the light reflects off the nail surface right into your eyes. If you would like to replicate the experience before purchase, remove the shade from your nearest lamp with a 200 watt bulb, place yourself one foot away from it, and stare directly at it as you repeatedly try to trim the nails. Or stare into the sun. The light output is about the same, and both will blind you.
Another fun feature is the way that those darling mini-sun bulbs stick so far out that they makes it almost impossible to get the nails into the actual cutting blades. Instead of being safety-oriented, these lighted guards are completely in the way. You are left trying to fumble your kids' fingers and toes into spaces that are way too small, but the good news is that your eyes will be too stunned to notice. Thankfully the set also comes with the world's smallest nail file to manually file the parts you couldn't trim with the clippers. However you still might want to keep another file on hand as the enclosed file is comically small. I'm pretty sure was actually designed for doll usage.
We have used products from this company for years and have never hesitated on buying anything from them before. I will read the reviews more closely going forward. Lesson learned.

I am attaching pictures of the clippers aimed at my own nails to illustrate this issue. There is no angle where you can tell the difference between skin and nail, even with my long nails and somewhat tan skin. At the worst angles, the lights actually shine in your eyes and make it impossible to see anything.

- The light on the sides is very bright and definitely make it easier to cut the nails for your toddler, infant, baby, etc.
- The nail clipper is enclosed so it really helps to "catch" all the clippings instead of having them fly everywhere. Not that it matters when your kid is screaming bloody murder while you're clipping their nails and it still flies all over the place.
- The rubber covering is very helpful to avoid accidental cutting or scraping of the baby.
Not so good parts:
- It's cheap. I'm on my third nail clipper and I do not cut with heavy force on my children's nails. My oldest kid is 2 years old so it shouldn't be falling apart like it is. I'm assuming the metal alloy it's made out of is too weak and brittle. The failure point is always the bar that holds the handle portion down to the nail clipper.
- The handle does not always stay down... which means sometimes you have to put the nail clipper away with the light still on. The good thing is that the light seems to last longer than the nail clipper itself (I've used it twice a week for just under a year) and the light still seems to be going strong.
Although the cons are just a few, they outweigh any benefit of the nail clipper. Any given it can just fail and then it snaps into your baby's face. Not a good thing to be trying to anticipate in an already tense situation. Also, why can't they make the most critical part of the nail clipper tougher than the rest... this is the thinnest portion of the clipper and yet it's still some weak brittle metal alloy?
Bye Felicia.
