Item was SUPER fast - for about ~30 minutes. Then, it failed. No matter the OS (Linux, Windows 10, OSX), no matter the system, the device shows up as a 0 GB removable device with no media in it. Looks like a controller failure. Really, really disappointing for the cost.

Update (09/2018): Added pictures of how to teardown this drive. 1) use a 3/8" wooden dowel to drive the inner plastic body out from the metal outer casing, 2) use a small flat tip screwdriver to split the black plastic inner case (there are cut-outs), 3) the circuit board is encased in a white plastic holder, which is what slides in/out; to separate, carefully use a smaller flat tip screw driver to pop the retention tabs (four). Once I had the unit apart, I plugged the DEAD drive in; windows sees some sort of device, but no logical partition, so the following temperatures are of the drive sitting idle (in earlier tests, temperature increased during file copy operations); after being ON for 10-15 minutes, the temperature rose from ambient (80F) to a high of 127F. As I had received a replacement drive from Sandisk, I decided that I would modify the working one in an attempt to further its lifespan but improving air-flow around the circuit board. I drilled additional holes in the white plastic sleeve, on both sides (see the comparison pictures), and I plan on leaving the rest of the drive case (black plastic and metal) removed. This drive will be used to transfer files between computers, but without the outer case, it will not be leaving my desk area. Will update again at a later date if (when) this drive fails again. On a side note, the flash chip, which is the larger of the two is the one that had the highest temperature; however, given the confined case and ZERO airflow, i'm sure the entire board will eventually reach thermal equilibrium, e.g. the entire circuit board will be at or over 127F.Reviewed in the United States on 21 May 2018
RECOMMENDATION: About the only thing you can do is: a) disconnect the drive when not in use, especially detrimental would be to put a movie on it, and play it for over an hour, b) place the drive on a heat conducting surface or force cool it by blowing a fan on it, NOTE: these only apply to someone who has already purchased this drive. For everyone else, buy another driver that does not have an inherent heat problem.
Update (07/2018): Drive has failed; neither a Windows 10 nor MacBook Pro computer will recognize it. Upon reading more into the reviews, and lot of people have had issues with this drive failing.
Pros: Good transfer speed (+100 MBps). Tested on a Dell Inspirion 8920 through the USB 3.1 port (on the back of the computer).
Cons: Drive gets unusually warm (compared to other USB flash drives) during idle (non-transfer, just plugged in). This drive was 17 degrees F over ambient temperature (84F). The metal shell appears to dissipate some heat over the plastic cased San Disk Extreme (non-Pro) 64GB version, which was 24F over ambient. The Kingston was 8 degrees F over ambient. And a PNY Attache 64GB 3.0 (plastic case) was 12 degrees F over ambient. Temperature was measured with a IR thermometer (link below).
