Anyway, I bought two of these a few months apart, and about a month after I bought the second one, the first one died. A month later, and the second one died. I mean, maybe that's REALLY bad luck, or - more likely - these things are just not built to last more than a few months.
Not only are they shoddy quality, but the warranty support is atrocious. They have a one year warranty (meh), but the only support option is ship them back to the company - on your own dime ! I was going to do that, but I honestly can't even find a box big enough to ship even one of these, let alone 2. I'm looking at having to buy a bunch of boxes for like, 60 dollars (plus whatever shipping costs, probably another 60), in order to ship these things back.
They're just junk, and the company isn't helpful in supporting their defective product.
- Moves a LOT of air. In an 8x14 room, circulation is obvious at a 3/4 setting.
- Lots of options. 4 speeds, three modes, timers, rotation at different widths... this can do whatever you want.
- Comprehensive remote. Not something I used often, but I'm sure people will appreciate being able to thoroughly control the fan remotely.
- Looks good.
- Takes up very little floor space.
-Difficult to service.
As a fan, this is going to pick up anything floating through the air. Dust, hair, fur... Everything will end up in the blades/motor eventually. There's a wide grill on the back which limits this, but only somewhat. Eventually, this will need to get cleaned.
How do you do this? Simple: you don't. The user manual says to only clean the outside grill, and maybe try blasting compressed air in. It explicitly states not to disassemble the fan, which means anything that's made its way in will remain until the motor grinds to a halt. Opening the fan itself requires breaking open a number of snaps, disconnecting the control panel, a very long and thin screwdriver, and more than an hour of your time.
What this means is that this fan is running on borrowed time unless you put a lot of effort into keeping it clean. This goes double if you have pets or long hair. It lasted me a little less than two years, and I suspect most of the damage was the three months after my cat moved in.
An excellent fan for a generally dust/hair free home, or someone who can spend a lot of time keeping it clean. Otherwise, a temporary stopgap.
