This shampoo bar smells amazing. But that’s the only good thing. I rarely leave reviews but I have to, just for this product.
It’s my first time switching to a shampoo bar, and boy oh boy, was I in for a surprise. This takes some work to lather, so I used a foaming net. Problem solved. After working it through your scalp, you’re pretty much done cuz the rest of your hair gets matted together ( I have hair down to my boobs). I tried combing my hair before showers, didn’t work- the main body of hair remains one big tangled mess.
Combing through hair is another issue, brush gets stuck after the crown, and hair gets pulled out. I was able to bun my hair up properly for the first time in my life but that’s only because it has never been so greasy and waxy.
It is fascinating to watch the soap wax build up on my brush- at first I thought it was ‘residue’ from all the other hair care products I was using previously. Nope. Just soap build-up.
I used this bar all the way to the very end, took me a month. Thought I’d get thru the ‘transition’ phase they mentioned. I definitely didn’t. Just used JR Ligett’s soap for the first time tonight- hair is back to normal, and even softer than before.
I made the switch to shampoo bars two years ago. I went through the various brands and sampled a variety of shampoo bars. The biggest issue I had with this brand was that the soap broke apart easily mid wash and it broke apart around the air bubbles and lines in the soap. I’m guessing it’s the pouring technique. While it makes the bar look pretty (the air gaps are even visible in the product picture), it’s pretty impractical to use if it falls apart after a couple uses. No other bars I’ve owned have broken apart at almost full size. The scent was nice but I didn’t get any of the tingle that I was hoping for from the peppermint oil or menthol crystals. Maybe if this was the first and only bar I tried I wouldn’t have know any better...
I have been using it for a few weeks now. I have curly hair and had mild dandruff that would build up if I did not shampoo for 36 hours (I usually shampoo every other day to keep my hair from drying out). I have kept my regular schedule with this shampoo and no longer have any scalp irritation or flakes - which I have been dealing with since primary school and was dependent on head and shoulders to beat back for a day or so. It has also calmed the frizz substantially, though I do use ogx conditioner after, since I am still finishing up the bottle before searching for a bar conditioner.
As far as a transition period goes - I noticed that after my 2nd use my hair felt unusually greasy and tender. This went away after the 3rd use and I haven't noticed any buildup or tenderness since. I would maybe caution that if you have straight hair that shows grease easily, you may have a longer "transition period" or this may not be the product for you, but it can't hurt to try since we're all in the house these days.
The bar has also not noticeably diminished over 2-3 weeks of use - I was worried it would go fast but seems to be lasting! $10 well spent.
This is the most amazing shampoo bar I have tried. My SO and I both have short hair so we don't go through a lot of shampoo but the bars last us for a long time. If you use styling products it gets them out of hair and leaves it clean. I highly recommend to anyone but definitely for someone with fine hair that looks greasy in a day. My hair has never looked better.
From the first use, my hair felt incredible - a bit fuller - very manageable. I don't have to wash my hair as often and did not need to use conditioner because there were NO tangles! I also used it to wash face and body. It is such a clean feel and scent. I am so glad to not be discarding plastic contents that would end up in a landfill or water ways. Thanks for striving for a cleaner, healthier planet! I love this product, have already recommended it to friends and family and will order repeatedly.
Item is as described. Arrived on time and was well packaged in biodegradable box. Smells great-not too strong. My scalp has calmed down since I started using it. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for bar shampoo.
I purchased this hoping it would help my husbands psoriasis on his scalp. Not only did it make it worse, but the bar started to fall apart after about a week of being in our shower(On a shelf above the shower head, not in direct water). It only smelled like tea tree oil until it was used the first time, then never had a smell after that. It may work for other hair types, just wasn't a good product for us.
This bar shampoo is like nothing I've ever used before; I have fine hair that tends to frizz in humidity and usually looks lackluster and blah. I tried Yellow Bird and am amazed! First of all, it totally changes the texture of your hair; when you rinse, it almost feels sticky (very different and odd) but it's because there are no chemicals. I don't even use conditioner right now. I will never buy commercial shampoo again.
I used this for about 2 weeks... it left my hair feeling waxy. The smell is great, about the only good thing about this bar shampoo. I've used other bar soap that were great, I will be going back to them.
I so wanted to like this bar shampoo. I use them frequently and wanted to give this one a try. It smells great and works up a fantastic lather. I also love that the packaging is recyclable and no plastic. The problem is that it leaves a VERY heavy, greasy film on your hair. My hair was almost impossible to style and felt heavy and tacky all day. And it gets worse the more days in a row that you use it. Had to move to another brand.
