I loved these at first. I even bought them for a friend. But after a few washes, they seem to shrink a little and they already had a bit of a learning curve of how to use them when you have long nails. Also, the size is difficult to judge which lid will fit what but maybe i just need to buy more sizes. I do like that they negate the use of plastic wrap, but to be honest, when I can't find one that fits, I still reach for the saran wrap. Love the idea of them, but not sure I would buy again (for me or for a friend).
I bought these to help me use less plastic. So far, they have been working well. My set has six different-sized round lids. They are heavier than plastic wrap, but like plastic wrap they stretch to provide a snug cover and cling to the bowl (or whatever I've used them on). The tabs around the edges make it fairly easy to remove them. They are easy to wash by hand; I haven't tried washing them in the dishwasher yet. My one issue with the lids is how and where to store them so they stay handy and clean. Overall, this is proving to be an inexpensive way to be a little more "green."
I thought this is the solution for saving the planet or not using the plastic food warp. But really disappointed once I started using this product. First, the lids are not flexible enough. The specific sizes limited the application. Lids fits best the round shape bowls/plates/containers. Not good for rectangular or square shape houseware. Second, the lid won't hold in position if it is wet. Both the lid and the container have to be completely dry. Otherwise, there's no way to keep lid wrap around. Maybe they should make the lids even thinner to be more flexible. I try to use these lids as much as possible but it should be better....
I love these silicone lids. I used to use cling wrap and I always felt it was such a waste of the earth's resources. Eventually I searched on Amazon if there was a reusable substitute as I didn't know if it was a thing. i found this and I use it all the time. Only downside is it doesn't fit every single container that I have. It does stretch but I would need bigger ones for extra large bowls/containers as it can only stretch so much. The best way to use this is to use it on containers that are just a bit bigger than the lid itself so it can stretch a bit and is tight vs just plopping a large lid o a small container.
I love these lids! The variety of sizes allows it to fit almost any bowl. I like that it is clear so you can see what is in the bowl. I find that with a solid colored lid, nobody knows what's in it and sometimes gets thrown out. These lids also have a good stretch and are a bit sticky and holds tight. Great product!
If they don't fit the bowl, they are not easy to use and sometimes don't work at all. If the bowl rim is wet, you need to dry it first. I have not used them much, so my review is based on first impressions. The couple of times I did use them worked fairly well. The only think was, I was afraid they'd "fly" off potentially creating a mess in my fridge. This did NOT happen though.
Plastics like zip lock bags and plastic wrap do not degrade over time -- we are creating plastics that will live in our environment forever. I made a New Years resolution to try to reduce my family's carbon footprint and bought these and silicon bags. I haven't need to touch a single-use zip lock nor plastic wrap since. This, if anything, is easier to use and makes me feel like I am doing at least a tiny bit to help our planet.
These work as advertised. They stretch nicely and cover dishes as expected. The only negative I can think of is that since they are very flimsy, they are hard to wash in the dishwasher. As a result I wash them by hand. I was hoping to be able to use the dishwasher. Other than they they work great and I will continue to use them.
