The only problem with these (and these types of containers) is that they are a bit more challenging to store when not in use, as the lids have flaps on all sides, which take up more room than traditional push on lids. However, I think it's worth it, at least for me, as these lids stay on extremely well once they are snapped shut.
The silicone or rubber portion between the lid and flaps is what helps to really make sure things don't leak. Even if one drops this, there's no worries about the lid popping off as with push-on lidded containers. However, if these are dropped on a very hard surface, or hit the floor just right, there's the possibility of the container cracking I suppose.
These wash well in the dishwasher. My dishwasher's heat and dry function is pitiful, so I usually have to wipe down the crevices of these containers and let them finish air drying before putting them away as water likes to stay in the portion of the lid that fits snugly over the tops of the containers.
These are somewhat more pricey than what I like to spend, but if these hold up well, I may find it worth it to invest in some more. So far, I like these a lot, as they feel more durable and more secure than my old (red-lidded common name brand) food storage containers. Thanks for reading.
These are the pinnacle of plastic storage:
Seal with a snap so you know they are sealed. Super strong seal does not leak.
When not in use, they are nestable so they don't take up too much space.
Stackable: They are strong enough that you can stack a few full containers on top of one another.
These are great for both food prep and food storage. On the storage side, they simply can't be beat:
Clear all around, so it is easy to see what is inside.
No odor out of the box.
Easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher. Note: I have found that sometimes washing out a container that held spicy foods can have a lingering odor if hand-washed, but the dishwasher gets rid of the odor.
These are microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe.
Snapware recognizes what makes for good food storage solutions and has produced a line of products that meet or exceed expectations in all areas. The variety of sizes and reasonable prices make it easy to find and acquire what you need for your prep and storage system.
This set shipped well with minimal packaging and no damage. No weird odors or chemical-like smells were present at all.
I'm quite pleased with these. They are sleek in design and take up little space when not in use as they are nestable. They are also stackable which is great for my fridge that always seems to not have enough space.
I like I can clearly see what's inside from the sides and the top. The lids are designed that you can write atop with a dry erase marker to label the inner contents for best organizing.
The lids are easy to open and close. You know it is sealed properly when all sides snap shut and you hear the very audible sound. They have not leaked at all since I've been using them for over a month now.
They sport a solid thick plastic that leans more toward hard than soft. They can be washed by hand and by dishwasher. I have noticed no shrinkage, staining, warping, or any other concerning issues so far.
I like these and the fact they can be used to store more than just food.
The price is right for quality and quantity. Recommended!
The top has an internal gasket and seals shut with latches so it is more leak-resistant than all other plastic food storage containers that we have tried. I tried filling a container with water and leaving it upside down overnight and the next morning less than 1 teaspoon of water had leaked out. These containers are probably not safe for filling with soup and then carrying them sideways in a backpack to school, but I can't think of any other plastic food storage containers that will pass this test.
I'm knocking off one star because they advertise "leak-proof", but in my experience they are only "leak-resistant". I do think they are better than any other food storage containers in this price range ($2 to $4 per container, depending on size) that we have tried.
