Okay quality but flawed design and issues with rope kinks

So i've had this rope for about 6 months now. The handle is alright and the rope is fairly durable, i use it about 3-4 times a week for 5-10 minutes for my boxing warm up in the gym. My gym is padded so i've had no issues with the rope being worn so it hasn't been tested on concrete. The main issue with this rope is that I think the design is somewhat flawed. My rope has serious kinks in it, as the underlying material in the rope is metal, its gotten to the point where I've started cutting off the excess on the rope in order just to have it straight, i think the design is a bit flawed and doesn't let the rope perform as it should, DUs are quite difficult as the timing is sometimes off on either side. Overall its an okay product and gets the job done but I wouldn't buy again - I'd try a speed rope with a different design, maybe a full PVC rope without the metal insert... as this, and the design is what causes the Kinks in the rope.

SOME HELPFUL TIPS FOR ALL + All The Reasons Why I Love This Rope From a Female's Perspective

I'm a female and new to speed jump roping, but I didn't want a cheap starter rope. Here are some factors as to why I purchased this rope and why you may end up loving it too:

1) QUALITY: If you like to invest in workout accessories that are well-made, this is your rope! While I'm new to this, I know good quality when I see it, and this rope is superior in quality even in comparison to ropes I checked out in stores. There aren’t many times when something arrives in the mail and ends up being a higher-quality than you expected - this was one of those rare experiences for me.

2) FUNCTION: I love the rope-locking function, it's brilliant. Sure, you need wire cutters to make the rope the correct size for you, but that's no big deal. Everyone should invest in a decent pair of wire cutters for their tool box as it always comes in handy!

3) LOOKS (important to me because I’m female, duh): It’s sleek-looking, yet a good weight and very slim. Fits great in any bag, and I know it will look nice and new for a very long time!

4) JEALOUSY: Looking to make your husband jealous? Pick one of these up and use it, he’ll be jealous and want one too. The nice thing is, it’s perfectly sized for only me and he’s too tall so he can’t steal it! Sucker :)

5) OVERALL HEALTH: On a serious note, I had no idea jumping rope was so good for you as an overall body workout. My first time using this I was dying in no time flat and couldn’t get more than a few jumps in without messing up. In a few days, my coordination improved and I pretty much had it down in no time looking like I at least knew what I was doing. I love all the different variations of jumps you can do, and I’m mixing it up and doing intervals to prolong my attention to it. According to some science study I read somewhere: jumping rope for 10 minutes is the equivalent to running an 8-minute mile. I hope this is true because that's kinda cool.

TWO TIPS THAT MAY BE HELPFUL TO YOU (Male or Female):

TIP 1 - JUMP ROPE TRAINING VIDEOS: If the link for the free jump rope mastering videos ($15 value) isn’t working, simply send them an email. They were super helpful and kindly explained that they had been experiencing some website issues at one point. They also responded back to me in less than 24 business hours and were able to provide me with the videos easily and quickly!

TIP 2 - JUMP ROPE SIZING: I didn’t know where to start in regards to sizing the rope. Videos online were kinda ambiguous and I wanted a little bit more of a guide compared to just standing on the rope and figuring out where the rope should hit from there. Here’s what I found was the most helpful for me:

Of course this is only a guide, so please decide if this is personally right for you or not, but I thought it was pretty spot-on for my height at 5’7”. I just suggest trying an inch or two longer than what it says so that you can always take a little bit away at a time until you feel it is just right. I ultimately ended up at 8’8” anyway just like it had suggested.

One last word: I almost waited too long to purchase this before they sold-out (hopefully they'll restock), but I picked up one of the last one's available in this most recent available batch. When and if they restock, I wouldn't wait or think too long about it. I absolutely love this rope and you may end up loving it too!

Equipment That Is Built To Last!

As an athlete who uses jumping rope on a regular basis to warm up or even a quick work out if time is limited, I appreciate a really good and durable rope. Epitomie Fitness has done it again and even outdone themselves with their latest creation with the Sonic Boom Mach 2 Speed Rope. I liked their original Sonic Boom Speed Rope, but it had it's limitations. This time they have improved upon its predecessor by making the handles even more ergonomically correct and the ability to store excess rope length within the handles, doing away with having to precut the rope for proper sizing. The handles feel well balanced and the rope spins freely making the revolutions of the rope feel smoother and smoother as you get more efficient in your jump rope workouts. Even though double unders aren't my thing I completely agree with the company's claim that this rope will improve your double unders if that is a goal you are working towards. For me, the biggest and most exciting improvement is one that the company does not endorse, yet I must give my honest opinion. Jumping rope has multiple purposes for me and one of the main ones was the ability to jump rope outside. Now the company states that the rope is perfect for outside jumping as long as you use a mat. For me that just isn't a real vialable option as I take my rope on trips and some of my routines involve jogging/ jump roping. This negates the use of a mat and why I'm so impressed. With the previous jump rope I would chew up the rope within one or two workouts. After sharing this concern and getting a replacement rope Epitomie Fitness advised me to only use it indoors or on a mat. Now even though the company is not stating that it's good to use outdoors without a mat and I myself am not telling anyone to do what I'm doing. I absolutely feel compelled to add this into my review because having the ability to use it outside without a mat was a total game changer for me and which rope I use in the vast majority of my workouts. Thank you again Epitomie Fitness for always trying and successfully accomplishing the creation of work out equipment that is fun to use and lasts in extreme training situations.

I had the original version of the Sonic boom jump rope, and this new version improves upon the only 2 things I had any kind of problem with on the original.

With the original, I did not care for the shiny glitter on the handles and I did not like having to cut the rope so a ton of extra length was not hanging off the ends.

The handles on this version are solidly built and do not have any glitter material at all which is great. The length of the handles is long and comfortable and the rope itself spins smoothly.

I really like and was surprised by the new method of shortening the cable length to fit the user. The handles compress and allow for the extra length to be stored in the handles. This is a great solution for fears of cutting too much cable off and allowing for the rope to be lengthened or shortened with ease.

This set also includes two cables which is a nice bonus!

Overall, this is a great rope and will be my main jump rope I use in the gym.
