mic is a little weak though - people sometimes have me speak louder, but I don't talk much with them. music sounds great through my iPhone - trust me I am a sound and recording engineer. don't waste your money on Beats (or other expensive earbuds) unless you are wearing them for style. I have $200 headphones for recording that sound better of courese, but these sony's are by no means weak and junky. they really do sound good. well balaced - good highs, mids, and lows. great buy!
I also use them in cafes etc were people are talking and I need to concentrate. I put on a little groove salad (somafm.com). they don't have to be turned up loud to drown out noise.
full disclosure - I have had to buy a new set each year of hard daily use - for the price I can't complain. buy the coverage maybe?
My only complaint would be that there is only one button for stopping, skipping, or going back in a playlist. Stopping and playing is easy enough with just a single press, and skipping is okay with two clicks, but going backward or restarting a song with three clicks can be a bit difficult without accidentally stopping or skipping the song.
Overall, I would recommend these due to their quality and price range!
I purchased these as a substitute and I am disappointed. Fresh out of the box, there is a grainy sound anytime you move the cord (which /may/ go away with use, I've had that happen a couple of times with Sony earbuds and after a couple weeks it usually goes away), the right ear is slightly quieter than the left ear, the headphones are quieter than I think they should be (I can listen to music at max volume without wincing), and the sound quality and comfort are just not as good. I don't know why Sony got rid of a good thing and left me with this sorry alternative. It might be time to look for something else, after at least 7 years of buying exclusively Sony earbuds.
