So far I am satisfied but it could have been better

There are many advantages of using this flask instead of an electrical yogurt maker - it does not take much space, it looks nice and it can be used for something else if you don't want to make yogurt anymore. The only disappointment is that it does not hold temperature really well. It will stay warm if the initial temperature is boiling hot ( i.e for cooking porridge overnight), but when you try to have 105-115F for making yogurt, the temperature tends to drop down to 95-105F after 2-3 hours. It still ferments and my yogurt comes out just fine, but it's not the optimum range. So I other check temperature every 2-3 hours or leave it in the oven with light on, or in the cooler bag, or put the flask into a pot filled with hot water. The flask itself has a pretty good insulation, the culprit is the cap which is too thin. This is not an issue when I am reculturing, as the fermentation process takes 5-8 hours, but it takes about 12-24 to ferment yogurt from the powdered starter. And again, I did not have problems in making yogurt, it's just because I love to take measurements I discovered the temperature issues. On the other hand it's better to have slightly lower temperature than overheat and kill your cultures and I've heard it happens quite often with many electrical yogurt makers. So all and all I still recommend this product.

So simple & easy to use everyday!

Eliminates need for more appliances & cords! I’ve wanted a yogurt maker that would allow me to make a good amount of yogurt in a mason jar & go directly to the fridge or freezer w/ no clean up. So this was a real find! The cherry on top was that once the jar & hot water are in this maker, there’s no more need for electricity, so no cord & I can sit it out of the way anywhere w/o need to be near an outlet, & at that point it’s off the grid. Also no cord getting in the way when storing the maker away, & it’s very compact & space saving (perfect for tiny homes, hikers, camping, & anywhere space is limited). Simplicity really is a great thing & this is the essence of simplicity! Love that my yogurt is made w/o plastic or any toxic leaching things. Only stainless steel & glass! Looks nice too. Love my new little compact easy to use, easy to store, completely non-toxic, non-electric & no batteries needed, always ready to go, low maintenance, simple & dependable little yogurt maker!! And I can use it for other things too. I can put beans or rice or other things in a mason jar & slow cook them in this the same way hikers do using a thermos bottle for a ready made individual meal waiting for me when I get home from a busy day or to put in freezer for another time (mason jars are freezer safe!).
Very happy w/ this stainless steel yogurt maker! It’s just PERFECT!! Excited to make lots of simple healthy nut, seed, & grain milk yogurts.

Quart jars with wide mouth fit

Jar issue - it comes with a fantastic Agee jar from New Zealand. If you're into the tactile experience of glass you'll appreciate it. Similar to a U.S. Mason or Kerr in size and function.
This product is great, very nice quality. It is a thermal container with a screw top. No plugs, it maintains temp by pre- heating with hot/warm water. I tested it with the same recipe that I use in an electric quart sized yogurt maker. We all preferred the batch made in this maker. The yogurt was thoroughly cultured, very smooth. The electric batch was a bit over cultured in comparison! Our counter top was in the mid 70's f all day.
Look for yogurt recipes all over the internet, milk etc., it will take experimentation to find one you like. The benefits of home culturing are well worth the time. Tip - after culturing and chilling the quart, I put the yogurt in single serving jars for the family to grab.

Doesn't hold temperature

This was well packaged and a lovely item however it didn't maintain the temperature inside. I followed the instructions and gave it a couple of tries but every time I would stop to check the temp it would have dropped below cultivating temperature even within just a couple of hours of starting. I even tried insulating the lid with some think warm cloths but it didn't help.

Consistantly delicious results

I am using this weekly to make yogurt from my goat's milk. It works perfectly! Retains the heat for well over the 8 hours required to ferment the milk, and the resulting yogurt tastes really good. I was using an electric Salton yogurt maker that made individual cups and took up space, and I much prefer this method: a single quart jar, surrounded by a double walled stainless steel container that uses hot water instead of electricity. Simple and compact. Sturdy construction. Includes the glass jar, but also accepts any quart canning jar.
