Let us get to the pros and cons of this....
Excellent design. The helmet is nicely sculpted featuring a ton fo details that you'll appreciate on any display or to wear.
Superb paint application. Using the latest in paint application tools, this helmet features a vast array of weathering and damaging right down to the dent on the top left of the forehead which was caused by Cad Bane.
Fits most heads. One of the problems dating back to beginning of the BS Helmets were noggin sizes being to big and the helmets to small...namely in things like Poe and Kylo. This helmet has not only and adjustable band but it'll also rise or lower. This thing fits my head comfortably while also featuring a molded set of pads around the back area.
LED head stock. The only big feature of this helmet is the eye stock which is spring loaded with a button on the right side of the helmet, pressing this will lower it while anyone facing the helmet will see blinking indicators. There is also a slide off cover that when removed will also show a lit up HUD from clear acrylic and lit up in a faded blue. Simply pushing the stock back up will snap it back into place.
Helmet's price on Amazon is 130 dollars currently, which is more than most of the Black Series helmets when first released and they feature more gimmicks.
Gimmicks, There's not much. Other than interior molded padding and the LED headstock, that's it. No audio, no microphone, very disappointing for the price. I feel this helmet shouldn't have a price tag of anymore than 90 bucks.
So all in all, a nice looking helmet to add to your collection, but the price is a hard one to chew and say money well spent when you can get a good helmet cast for the same price and make your own with a little elbow grease. Still, if you wanna bypass that, you can certainly go with something like this to your collection.
I bought the Luke X-wing helmet and was disappointed that it was quite a bit smaller than the real deal. Not so with this one. It's had its symmetry cleaned up a bit but it's still 1:1 scale as far as I can tell.
Where Hasbro went above and beyond is the paint on this. It really is amazing that they were able to get this level of detail on a mass-produced helmet. They should seriously get an award for this innovation. When most people attempt to replicate the original paint job, they use paint masks and build up the different colors layer by layer. By most accounts, that's how the original prop was painted too. It doesn't look like that was the process here, but the surface of the helmet has rough spots that truly create the illusion that it was. There aren't quite as many different colors as there were on the original, but it's close. You'd have to look at this side-by-side with a more accurate helmet to even notice a difference if you hadn't been studying this prop for many years like some.
The bad news is that the hardhat-style helmet liner doesn't fit those of us with large heads. The good news is that it can be removed without damaging it. If I ever wanted to wear this, I'd add some thick foam padding like I have in my trooping helmets. I believe there'd also be room for a fan in the back.
I was going to suggest that this would make a great base for a Mandolorian Merc custom, but it's a shame to paint over the fantastic detail work. Fortunately, Hasbro just announced a prototype Fett helmet in plain white that is a little cheaper and a little smoother than this one (no head dent).
The bottom line is that this helmet is the value of the century. I couldn't be happier with mine.
