I think they would also be good to use as a "place holder" to keep an earring hole from closing during those times when you aren't really into or get too busy to change your earrings every day. They are comfortable enough and sturdy enough to sleep in.
The con is that the back is kind of large and tight so it is hard to wash underneath it if you don't take them out before you bathe. (I always thought it was kind of gross when people left their earrings in for long periods of time with cleaning them).
I am happy with my purchase and hope they continue to make these.
The posts are thick and pointed, like you expect from piercers. They are great "everyday" earrings that can be left in and forgotten. The previous ball earings that I bought online fell apart (the ball fell off the post). These appear to be solid cast (there is nothing to fall off) and built to last. As some reviewers have already noted, they are not true balls because the bottom (nearest the ear) is flat, the sides are cylindrical, and the top (farthest from the ear) is dome shaped.
I am very pleased with this practical solution to maintaining pierced holes.
