Sky Woman’s Power
Native American Folklore

Upon completion, add this sticker to your path on the map! Many native people call North America Turtle Island. Number each passage of the story in the correct sequence to learn why.

But Sky Woman had a special power. If she had even a small bit of earth, she could make more earth. Enough for everyone to live on.

Sky Woman placed the earth on a turtle’s back. Then she used her powers to make more and more land— until the tiny bit of earth grew into what is now called North America!

One by one, each animal dove, but none of them reached the bottom. Finally, only the tiny muskrat was left.

However, there was no earth to be found! So Sky Woman asked all the animals to dive to the bottom of the ocean and bring some earth back up to the surface.

Once, a great flood covered the world. Sky Woman came down to Earth, but there was no place for her to rest—just miles and miles of water, all over.

The muskrat was gone all day and all night. But in the morning, his furry whiskers broke the surface of the water, and after a deep breath, he offered his paw filled with a tiny bit of earth!

Now add this sticker to your map!

BONUS: How does Sky Woman remake the world?

My daughter enjoys this book. I love the brain box on each page that explains/defines what they need to do. Colorful pages. Answer key in the back for parents. Lots of great material in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this!
Reviewed in the United States on 4 August 2019
I have purchased a few of these types of work books and this is by far the best one I have purchased. There is a little map that you get stickers for after completing each page and so my kiddo looks forward to putting the stickers on the map. I also think a color printed workbook is so much more fun to do than the black and white ones. We tried some of the other black and white printed ones and they were a bit of a struggle to get through. My kiddo is going into second grade so I purchased this one to keep ahead and it is a bit advanced for her. I am teaching her words like precipitation and the different types of measurements which she has not learned in school yet. I’m ok with it bc I want her to have an easier time in class and be familiar with some of the topics she will be learning. Basically if you want a review book, purchasing their current grade will probably be best. It’s so great I’m contemplating purchasing another workbook from them. My only gripe is that the stickers are so tiny it’s a pain to peel off and this workbook would be perfect if they could make the stickers just a bit bigger.
