To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The book covers a wide array of topics used in everyday technology. It can sometimes seem very high level (especially if you have spent the past 20yrs in IT). However, the book was great to understand some new technologies, but also how businesses like Amazon or Uber are disrupting the market place. As a fairly new product manager (under 2yrs), I would say that this book was a great read - literally could not put it down. This is the fastest I have ever read a book (17 work days, only on a commute to work and back).
A must read regardless of your knowledge of technology. Covers a number of real world examples and this book really is written in plain English. Personally I’m an IT Consultant so have an awareness of the concepts in this books but still found the book useful. Recommending this book to all of my family members.
Must read for business, product and tech enthusiasts, especially if you’re early in your career. This book provides a great insight into some of the finer nuances of how modern businesses leverage technology to build products and how it closely ties with the business strategy and vision.
I’ve recommended this book to few friends and all of them have instantly bought and developed a liking for the book.
Kudos to the authors - Neel, Parth and Adi for putting this together. I’m now onto their next one on blockchain.
You wont be disappointed. Id describe swipe to unlock as an insight into the tech scene for those not super technical that will give you enough great detail to understand what the big companies are doing what they are doing and also a glimpse of the global picture that i personally wasnt aware of especially from the companies operating in the asian and african tech markets. A lot of food for thought to help future proof your products or assist when creating new ones with the do's and dont's in creation
A very good primer on tech industry and innovative business strategies that drive the digital world. Provides an overview of existing and emerging technologies and products, and their implications for the users - both good and not-so-good.
It is, however, only an overview with limited technical details.
Its written in a creative and engaging way - for readers from within or outside the tech industry.
Easy and engaging read, informative and convenient. Successful in presenting several current trends and relevant aspects from the complex world of technology in business - all in one place and all de-jargonised.
The book covers a wide array of key topics used in everyday technology. The book was great in explaining how businesses like Amazon or Uber are disrupting the market, and the structure of different emerging markets.
As an early product manager, I would say that this book was the perfect primer and reference manual on the digital industry.
Being a software engineer myself I learnt a lot of things from this book. First I learnt about the algorithms behind the biggest tech companies which was really interesting and second I learnt about their marketing strategies which could be very useful one day when I would like to start my own company!
