STM Stepping Motor:

TTArtisan AF 27mm F2.8 CF lens adopts the "STM+leading screw" stepping motor, which is small in size and smooth in focusing.

Interface for Firmware Upgrade

The firmware upgrade of the lens can be carried out through the type-c interface to improve performance. Different from the common design of the interface on the lens, TTArtisan designs the interface on the back cap, which improves the aesthetics of the lens.(Refer to the product manual for upgrade entry)

Pros:
1. VERY cheap lens
2. Good build quality
3. Swirly bokeh at f2.8 minimum focus, a somewhat unique character of this lens (did not attach photo of this effect)
4. AF is whisper quiet

Cons:
1. Heavy vignetting at f2.8, gets better stopped down but doesn’t fully go away (if you’re pixel peeping or what not)
2. Not the sharpest at f2.8 but bokeh is hella cool.
3. Firmware update doesn’t work on Windows 11, yet*
4. Aperture is noisier than the AF, bummer.
5. Some flaring issues, just don’t aim directly at bright light sources open wide, or get a lens hood or whatever
6. Sharp, but not perfect, YMMV

This lens is for people that are looking:
-for a fun lens to experiment with
-a cheaper, less noisy alternative to the XF27mm (the AF noise is unbearable on the XF, at least to me)
-lightweight, walk-around travel lens

I mean…come on, it’s like US$150~ Don’t expect some out of this world performance from this lens but if you can live with the imperfections, I’d say this is a pretty great lens. I’m having fun with it, and I hope you will too.

Die Linse ist besser als ich dachte. Ich hatte auch das Original 27mm Fuji-Objektiv, habe es aber zurückgeschickt. Dieses Objektiv gefällt mir besser und kostet weniger als die Hälfte. Ein Kritikpunkt ist der kleine Objektivdeckel. Den werde ich vermutlich bald verlieren. Leider kann man bei TTartisan derartige Dinge nicht nachkaufen. Das betrifft bei mir auch ein anderes Modell dieser Marke. Das Testbild habe ich in einem dunklen Raum mit ISO 5000 mit einer X-T3 aufgenommen. Bis jetzt kann ich das kleine Objektiv empfehlen.

I've been debating about a new prime lens for my Fuji cameras for a while now, but what focal length, to choose: 23mm, or 27mm? There are many choices of manual focus lenses for the Fuji X mount, but I like my auto focus lenses. When I found that TT Artisans had produced a compact 27mm auto focus lens at an affordable price, I bought it as soon as it became available.

Let's get the negatives out of the way first, it doesn't handle flare very well, the aperture ring can be fiddly as there are only two knurled places to adjust the aperture, and the lens is not waterproof. All very minor irritations, simply overcome, don't take the lens out in the rain, or point it at the sun!!

The lens itself is compact, lightweight, and the build quality is of a decent all metal construction. Being as tiny as it is the lens is ideal for the smaller Fuji bodies, the X-A10, X-E1, 2, 3, 4, and the X-T10, 20, 30 for use as a street, or travel lens. I wanted the lens for my Fuji X-T20, to be used as a "walk about" travel lens, the 27mm focal length equates to approximately 40mm in full frame terms.

Performance wise the lens offers very good image quality, just look at the detail on the quayside mooring bollard, this is a JPEG image shot wide open at f/2.8. The ornamental bird taken again wide open at f/2.8, ISO 1000 indoors, without flash, and the bokeh is fine. The auto focus is marginally slower than some of my other "fast" Fuji primes, but the face / eye detect seems to work well.

The front lens cap is very tiny, easy to lose, however the rear lens cap has contacts, and a USB-C port to enable updating the lens, what a great idea.

The lens is an absolute gem, a real bargain at the price, and I am very pleased with the performance. Definitely recommended, well done TT Artisans.
