Having recently had two cats that, after a trip to the vets, no longer got on with each other I decided to purchase this book after seeing Jackson Galaxy's TV show. The book is incredibly informative, and, despite initially focusing on the relevant chapters to my predicament, a subsequent read of the rest of the book has taught me a wealth of things regarding my two cats' mental well being and what to look for. Thankfully, all the advice in this book worked and the cats are back together and happier than ever.
I have two cats and they are always at conflict with each other. The new cat whom I recently adopted was very interested in my scared older cat. After watching his youtube channel I decided to buy this book. It not only is my go to with this conflict situation but it is a whole guide on cats. It is easy to understand and easy to find the topic you are looking for. This book has literally been my last hope (as well his youtube channel) as I really didn't want to rehome the new cat and following the book I am seeing some progress. I had even looked for cat behaviourists but it is so much more costly (£300 for one consultation) and none I contacted seemed to have any solution other than rehoming of the new cat or to permanently separating the cats. So THANK YOU SO SO MUCH , we aren't anywhere near done with our journey but we are making progress everyday.
Easy to read and useful to refer to if you have a particular problem. Some really interesting information that I didn't know about before and Jackson is clearly a man who loves cats and wants what is best for them. I bought this book when we adopted our 2 shelter cats to help ease any issues. One is a 5yr old ex-stray from a local park who has been living wild all these years and a 10yr old who lost his previous owner and was depressed and underweight in the shelter. They are both doing really well and we love having them in our family. His play advice has been particularly useful as it has been a great bonding time for everyone and helped A LOT with the 6 week indoors before letting them out advice we followed and confidence building. They love it! Anything on a stick is a winner and the ex-stray returns to feral mode with 'Da Bird' toy! Even our 10yr old has put on weight and gained so much confidence, seeking our laps to snuggle on in the evening and loves batting a crinkly ball around!
I had cats when I was little. at nearly 40, I have been looking into getting cats again, and wanting to make sure I know what I am doing before bringing a kitten home. having seen Jackson on TV, and the work he achieves with some really difficult cases, I decided to give this book a go.
it is wonderfully written, making it an easy and pleasant read, has some cute and fun illustrations and most of all, after reading it, I feel like I REALLY understand cats on a different level than I did before, and this has helped me make plans for my future family member, and how to make our home suitable for both them and us.
can't recommend it highly enough. I hope to, as a result of what I have read, raise a kitten to be a confident, happy, Mojito cat, not a Napoleon or Wallflower
Jackson is a world authority (and fame) on the cats. He doesn't not preach but explains things clearly and succinctly. I had no idea how many natural things that people do to/with their cats are wrong and how match can be done to communicate with a cat in some depth. Hugely helpful. He gives reasons ad solutions. Not blowing his trumpet. Huge!
