There are a lot of books on doodling, visual planning, sketchnoting, and sketch-facilitation out there. Visual Doing, and Brand's previous book, Visual Thinking, are, hands down, the best two books about using visual thinking as a professional tool. They are written in a logical hierarchy for understanding the benefits (and yes, pitfalls) of visual expression.
Visual Doing is not for those looking to Zentangle, it is a business book for business people. It explains the usefulness of visual explanations in business--for yourself, for sharing with a small group, and for communicating to a large group.
It's easy to understand, professional, and clear. Visual thinking is not art, it's not doodling, it's communicating.
I teach Creative Problem Solving and the first exercise is a brain teaser. As groups explained their solution, every one drew a diagram instead of using words. Visual Thinking is the way of tomorrow, but smarter than emojis.
