Watercolour painting is an absorbing, meditative art-from that many people would like to enjoy but don't attempt to because they believe they can't paint or simply don't know where to begin. An encouraging voice and a clear, easy-to-follow approach is often all that's needed to give people the confidence to get started and keep going.

Beginners in watercolour – look no further than this book!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2017Verified Purchase
This book is one of the best I've ever read on how to master the watercolour medium. It is so clear in every way from explaining how to mix simple colours to how to tackle perspective and lighting effects. His mastery of the medium is evident in these pages which are well written and photographed. No need to look further than this book if you are setting out on the watercolour journey.

Watercolor tutoring at it's best

You can hardly find a more judiciously built learning / instructional material when it comes to watercolor - and on the market, hey, you can really find some very good ones!
All the questions you might find asking yourself regarding watercolor gets a good answer here.
This no-nonsense beautiful book with a high quality print and an elegant bind (and the cover has such a nice feel too) is becoming a favorite of mine as it is a... mine of watercolor knowledge gems even for a slightly more advanced beginners.
The progression through the book and learning process is so natural that you might even not realize you ARE becoming better at this.
Fabulous work from a more than friendly and entertaining instructor - just watch his videos on youtube and, oh, BUY HIS BOOK!!! I mean, this book!

This book is a must to read when starting watercolour painting.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 October 2017Verified Purchase
This book has very easy instructions to follow while learning to do watercolour painting, especially like the little photographs to show the relevant stages and techniques explained. Good explanations given to help choosing equipment and paints. Did not realise there are various techniques one can use to create textures to make watercolour pictures interesting.

SUCH A HELPFUL BOOK
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 November 2018Verified Purchase
I am new to art and have read this book from cover to cover and the information is brilliant.
Am going to work my way through the tutorials. Great buy even if you are not an absolute beginner
I bought the other book shown with this one and I cannot find where to leave a review, but it too was exceptionally useful and full of very good information

Great for beginners
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 July 2018Verified Purchase
I have a few art books and this is one of the best for beginners. Simple materials and step by step instructions. I especially liked the techniques of lifting out with the brush, using the end of the brush for scraping and giving the drying times. Never really knew those. Recommend to all beginners to try and enjoy this most unpredictable medium!
