Used to buy from another place, but they stopped selling organic unrefined Shea butter. SO GLAD I found this one! I bought the 4 lb pack and it came in two 2 lb blocks super convenient since I gave half to my coworker! I personally like the nutty smell, so I LOVED it. You can tell by the color and texture that this is in fact unrefined, raw Shea butter. It’s gritty, yet melts when in contact with body heat. And anyone who knows real Shea butter, it’s nkt going to be a perfect white color - the color varies from a darker yellow to a lighter yellow. Will buy again when I run out!
I use this for: Body lotion (obviously haha) Hair masks Lip balm Mixed with essential oils for an aromatic hand salve
There are bugs in this product. Multiple small dead bugs i found when I melted this product to make soap. I had to junk 5.5lbs of oil because of the bugs. So all in all I'm down not only the cost of this horrible product but im down the cost of 5.5lbs of olive oil and coconut oil. This really sucks.
Normally my weights are spot on but this package was short almost 2 ounces, including the packaging. Something is off with the color, came a dirty grey color. The resealing bag was a plus and each pound was separately wrapped. Normally makes a wonderful whipped body butter but I dont know about this batch I received today.
I purchased two pounds of this and I can’t stand the smell. I have made four batches of body butter using different carrier oils, adding other butters such as mango or Shea and tried adding essential oils to minimize the smell. It is the worst smell and you definitely don’t want to put on your body. I realize it’s unrefined but still it so awful. It stinks so bad so I dumped mine in the garbage. Unfortunately I missed the return window. Don’t buy! I bought refined Shea butter now and what a difference, very happy now. I want a full refund and Amazon should look at all the negative review and remove this seller.
First thing I noticed was the smell. TERRIBLE. There is no way I can use it in my products. It looks and smells like old and new product mixed together. Blocks with handfuls of crumble placed in the bag. I'm super disappointed. NASTY. Save your money. The pictures don't exactly show the green look. There is part green and a bit of yellowish white.
First few orders were great. Most recent order was contaminated, which I unfortunately didn't realize at first. It had a stronger smell than usual. After melting I noticed black powdery residue which sunk to the bottom. I filtered it out, and yet for the first time ever, every single product I made with that batch of shea went noticably bad. I don't mean "gritty" from fluctuating temps, I mean full on whitish green blooms of mold. I hope it was just the one batch, but it's looking like I'm not the only one who got this contaminated shea butter...
I’ve ordered from this manufacturer before and never had a problem until going great bulk. The Shea butter was rancid and spoiled hard and dark. I am very disappointed that I have to buy small amounts just to be sure it’s not rotten. I make natural skin care products and it’s extremely inconvenient. How is the small jar okay but not the larger quantity?
