Zippo’s Matte lighters are one of the most popular lighter finishes as the matte finish gives the lighter a smooth texture, it doesn’t show fingerprints, it doesn't scratch easily, and there are a variety of colors to choose from. The black matte lighter was first introduced into Zippo’s stock line in 1984 and soon after four more colors were introduced; blue, burgundy, green, and grey. In 1985, the Zippo logo was imprinted on the lighter and a border was added. Matte colors and designs continue to improve with time. Each lighter has a bottom stamp signifying the year it was made, is refillable, and is backed by Zippo's famous lifetime guarantee. All windproof lighters are American made in our Bradford, PA factory and come packaged in a gift box.

Instead I received a lighter made by Star1.
A Chinese company it seems. A perfectly fine lighter. But no where near what I asked for and ordered.
I'll include the link. Notice where it says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."

Zippo Pocket Lighter, Black Matte
However, the quality is definitely up to American standards. It has that satisfying click of opening and closing the lid. That satisfying spark and ignition of the flame, then closing the lid to get rid of it. Ah, yes.
Fluid does not ship with this, it comes dry, which of course, seems logical. I used just standard yellow container lighter fluid, Ron.. something. Works fantastically.
So, even if you're not a smoker, it's still a good option to carry a lighter with you in the event of needing fire. Never know. Maybe that's what I tell myself and my friends might be right of being an arsonist. Any who, Zippo or a Bic lighter? Zip.
This lighter only comes with the body, the flint, wick, and the fluid reservoir body, but not the fluid. You will have to purchase Zippo lighter fluid in order to use this lighter.
Pros: It's a Zippo, price, simplicity, color
Cons: It's a Zippo (there aren't any)
- A zippo holds about 1/2 oz of fluid at a time.
- If you accidentally overfill, fear not, you can let it air out outside. It evaporates very quickly, as you will soon learn.
- Let youtube be your guide. More fun than printed instructions.
- The two digits on the bottom of the lighter refer to the year; the letter is a code for the month, e.g. J = 10th letter = October.
Yes, there are electronic lighters now, and they're cool, but the noise sounds like a Zika-infected mosquito in your ear. My one complaint about traditional lighters is the smell of the fluid, but I'm used to it. I even like it.
Enjoy your Zippo.
