Premium Guinea Pig Bedding

We've been using Carefresh bedding for our guinea pigs for years. It's the only brand that we ever consider using. That said, I really wish the quality was more consistent. I realize that the source of reclaimed paper fiber varies a lot, but the Natural paper bedding can vary from harder brown bedding to fluffier gray bedding depending on the batch (see photo). At stores, I usually try to pick out the softer fluffier gray Natural bedding bags. When you order online, you get what you get.Reviewed in the United States on 14 April 2017
Update February 2019: Carefresh has changed the packaging (see second photo) and it now says on the back that Carefresh is “made from scratch with pillowy soft, ultra absorbent comfyfluff” instead of reciting that it uses reclaimed paper fiber (on the old packaging). I’ve bought the new type packaging Carefresh from a couple of different sources (since it became available several months ago) and it still sometimes varies quite a bit from batch to batch (see totally different colors and textures of two different batches in second photo). Based on recent experiences, the product does not appear to be more consistent in quality since the new package labeling change. I’m not upgrading my rating to five stars since although I still like the product enough to keep using it, there appears to still be product consistency problems.
