Also der Inhalt des Buches ist eine Wucht! Alles auf Englisch (auch die Einheiten zum Abmessen), aber wer damit kein Problem hat, hält eins der besten Backbücher in der Hand. Ich habe auch bereits das Cupcake und das Cookies Buch von Martha Stewart und bin von den Rezepten begeistert. Alles funktioniert genau wie beschrieben und jedes Rezept ist bebildert. Ich bewerte die Lieferung trotzdem nur mit 3 Sternen, weil das Buch verschmutzt und eine Ecke eingedrückt war. Das liegt allerdings an der schlechten Lagerhaltung von Amazon (denn die Verpackung war gut und ausreichend) und ist mir schon ein paar mal passiert. Hätte ich das Buch nicht zeitnah gebraucht, hätte ich es auch zurück geschickt und im Buchladen bestellt.
This book is very pretty, has beautiful pictures, and very nice introductions to each recipe. However I feel like the recipes are not tested. I have made two recipes from this book, both have failed. When I made twice and it failed twice. I guess that's my fault for being fooled twice. The recipes were still edible, but sure didn't turn out like they should have.
A lot of cake recipes, beautifully photographed, with the Martha Stewart quality and attention to detail you would expect in one of her cookbooks. Most of the cakes are not quick and easy to whip up, and there are some ingredients listed that the normal day to baker would not stock, but this is to be expected from a baker with Martha's experience. I usually go all out and just obtain whatever I need when I get fixated on making a new recipe. The butter only cakes (no oil added) will need a high quality butter with a high fat content, or your cake will be dry. If you know this going in you can substitute some oil for the butter if you are buying your stores brand due to the cost.
I was thrilled that this book has 80% recipes using buttermilk. I bake bread but can't seem to use up all the buttermilk before I have to toss it. So I was really disappointed when I tried "Buttermilk with Chocolate Frosting" 3 times and it never came out right, or maybe it did and just wasn't good. I usually don't give a recipe more than 2 tries, but because it was Martha I thought I must be doing something wrong. Just say that last cake turned out course in texture and somewhat dry.
