The opening chapters really inspired me to make changes to my habit processes, which I am in fact implementing. The latter half of the book seemed to drift off into weird stories about cats! It lost momentum. That and the continuous prompts to go to his website for additional worksheets (btw, atomichabits.com doesn't exist! It leads to jamesclear.com!) irritated me somewhat. However I've definitely got something out of this book and am hoping to set up an group following some of the practices outlined. I still highly recommend this book though.
For those who've read about habits before there's nothing new - as the author himself admits, which is very refreshing! However, it serves as a good reminder. For those who know nothing about how habits are formed and how to make habits useful then this is an excellent book with loads of tips and techniques
This book makes you understand how good and bad habits develop while giving a few good tips on how to prevent bad habits from repeating as well as build good ones. Thanks to this understanding, it's easier to gain awareness about our own behaviour and, as a consequence, turns out to be very helpful to take action and move towards the direction we are looking for. I haven't given 5 stars just for a personal reason. I didn't like the repetitive structure of the beginning of each chapter as they always start with an example/story which is useful to understand the concept but it's just that to me it was kind of boring as I do prefer a variety.
This is an easy read and well put together. I finished it within 2 days and if you’ve never read a book on habits then you should find this great read but if you’ve read ‘The Power of habits’ then a lot of this won’t be new
Amazing book, really enjoy the first half as I think that’s where the most important points on changing your mindset are! I’ve definitely been able to put this into practice and make small changes to my daily life!
