To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The activities are quick (maybe a little too quick) and easy enough for my kindergartener to handle. I previewed the pages from other years and this one seemed to match our needs the best. She loves the outdoor activities and the sticker map, but it’s really easy to finish each level in a couple of days. There are 7 levels and two levels have a part A and part B to make it last longer, but honestly, this is maybe a 5 minutes of learning a day kind of thing. So far, only one page took longer than 5 minutes and that’s because there was a written response box. Otherwise, we can finish two pages in 5 minutes easily. I’m not sure how much it will help with summer slide if you really only do one lesson a day, but in doing several pages a day, you’re looking at maybe a 3-4 week curriculum.
Obviously every kid is different, but I found the one that was leveled for my sons actual grade was way too easy for him, so we swept through it very quickly and moved on to the next level. Overall love the activities though, as a former teacher I appreciate that it's not all busy work, it's engaging and motivating. The map system is great - though I do wish the daily stickers were a little bigger, they're quite difficult to get off and work with (they're about the size of a pencil eraser).
Very colorful and engaging, kids were definitely more interested in it than Summer Bridge Series books. Great non-math exercises. Fun activities (outside quests, etc). BUT I was disappointed with the math sections. Disorganized, not much math, and difficulty doesn’t progress appropriately. It literally jumped from “13 x 3 = e” on page 27 to “48 x 53” on page 35, with NO other math pages in between of 27 and 35. Yikes!
Decent book. I'm not a fan if common core but since that hasn't been changed yet, this books is pretty good. Kind of short tho. About 10 pages per level so I wouldn't have your child do them all at one time. Brain boxes at the bottom of the page to help your child understand things.
