I have found this book to be very eye opening and resourceful. It is well written. As a mother of a newly diagnosed bp child I would recommend it to anyone in a similar position or anyone who takes part in giving care to someone with bp.
Lots of information on everything from medication to schooling to hospitalization and home life. If you are a parent with a bipolar child and are in a rough patch this book may give you some ideas or new insight, which is always good:)
Highly recommend this book if your child has bi-polar disorder--has given me a deeper understanding of my son's issues and it has helped me immensly. The author appears to advocate medicating your child, and I would highly recommnend lots of research before giving meds to a young child (we had a bad experience with Risperdal). Otherwise a well written book--the author is an expert in this and offers sound advice and insight.
This book is a must for understanding why your bipolar child does some of the things they do. We are raising our Grand daughter who is bipolar and it has given me far more information than anything I had read. It gets easier to be more patient and understanding when you realize that the child is not just being defiant and hard to get along with. Some parts get a little technical, but if you are dealing with a child with this illness you will certainly get your money's worth.
Getting what I needed from it. It is very technical in the psychological field. I had a friend with a 9 year old with this condition. I wanted to learn more about it. Talking to her about her son raised suspicions about a challenging child I had raised. I am learning useful information.
