This is a fantastic all-around cookbook for both budding and experienced bakers. Pie crust has been my nemesis for years, but Rose has nailed the technique and as a result, I have too! There are lovely photos and the recipes are well laid out with cup, gram, and ounce measurements which makes it so much easier for both UK and US cooks. You can get her pie crust recipe online, but out of my massive cookbook collection, this is one of my favourites.
Already having two other 'Bible' cookbooks, I was a bit stunned to open this one to find the entire book is printed in colour with some staggeringly good photography accompanying all the recipes. I realize this may sound quite droll, but I already struggle with the impulse to bake every damn thing in Rose's books as I read through them. And seeing gorgeous, glossy photos of every cookie, every cake, of that bloody pizza rustica... it is not helping my addiction problems.
This really is a wonderful book though. It has a few recipes out of some of her other books, as well as what I presume are some new ones. The instructions are detailed with explanations given for why certain things are being done and I am yet to cook something from it that wasn't fantastic. As a general baking book, you literally cannot go wrong with this.
