Moved on to the 4th book today and I've just noticed that there's a tear in the cover art display, ink along some of the page edges and theres a random splat of ink on the first page when opened. The books have been in their case on my shelf undisturbed and haven't been handled by anyone other than me and I didn't rip the cover art.
I had a quick glance at the first 3 when I got them but I should have checked them all properly.
If I had of seen this when I first got them, I would have asked for a refund or a replacement.
I ignored the reviews about the state of the packaging, thinking surely I wouldn't get a brand new collection only to have it damaged before it's even unwrapped? Yet here it is. I could understand if after a few months of wear and tear this happened but I think it says a lot for the overall quality if this is how it arrives, seemingly for a lot of people.
I'm just hoping the pages don't start to fall out next as I've read from other reviews too.
It was delivered really quickly (to West Kazakhstan), only 2 weeks, and ahead of schedule (I have had some packages to be delivered within KZ in 2 weeks only). The quality is not that good but what can be expected of paperback. In general, if you don't have money for hardcover (or like me - not that big fan of HP to spend such amount of money on HP books), you can buy this one. They are ok to read them once and put on the shelf, I don't think they will last long if you use them too often or give to other people. Update as of 2020: After i have read the books I loved HP! I finished all 7 in 1 and half week, couldn't stop! And now i do wish i bought hardcovers.
This set is a light-backed version. The characters are relatively small and it looks a bit tired. So far, I have not encountered any damaged pages in the third book, but the packaging was not good when it was sent. It seems that it is not suitable for giving away.
Like having collection together, like Matt finish however the corners are starting to peel as other have said. The most disappointing thing is after reading the books they have expanded and they won't all fit back in the display box 😤
Apart from a dent in the corner of the box and the top part coming away from the rest of the box , the books seem good and I cannot wait to dive right in. So its a bit hit or miss with how the delivery goes but the box takes one for the team!
The actual books, I love, they are brilliant and I won't go on because I'm sure many other people on here have. However... As a box, with the set is terrible. Once you have read the books, you can't put them back into the box, because they've padded out too much, which is a joke. Don't try, it will just bend them all. WHY design the box so that you can't put them back once you've read them? Who isn't going to read these books?? Either way, annoying, very annoying. I would advise to buy the books separately or in another set where possible or just take them out and put them on the shelf.
