Things went well during detox- I lost 6 pounds, but then nothing for the next remainder of the month. This plan is so labor intensive that I was cooking constantly and had no extra time to exercise. I have a family and had to cook for them too. I also live in a small town, so the ingredients were hard to get. I had to drive an hour to buy escarole! I also made a consultation appointment with the writer. I had suffered through 18 days by the time the appointment came up, had paid in full ahead of time, sent lots of paperwork, had blood labwork done, and completed a diary. I had lots of questions. I had lost 6 pounds during the clense and then nothing for the remaining 12 days. I obviously needed help interpreting and managing. About an hour before my appointment, I got an email with all caps writing and red highlights on my diary that informed me that my appointment was cancelled because I was a failure at following the book properly. So after all the work and not even a single cheat- I was rejected and left with no plan. I know I cannot go on for much longer with this labor intensive of a plan. I am completeley lost. I feel somewhat hopeless and wish I had never tried it.
The book provides you with a step by step by day but doesn't help when things go wrong. If you gain, you are not to test until you begin to loose again. That is clear. What is NOT clear is what to do? There are no directions like "go back to day 2,3". It also doesn't account for inflammation that may last days. I found it challenging because she wants you to rotate exercise as well as your food - but if you find the food is inflammatory, it's hard to do. If you can't do certain types of exercise and all you are allowed to do is walking that's not necessarily approved and she indicates that may be causing inflammation and weight gain. This diet has worked for many and I certainly know people who have drastically lost. Unfortunately, this diet isn't realistic especially for those who have to travel, are limited by the exercise they are medically approved to do. Support groups involve having to pay and if you need assistance or don't fit the mold, they push you to hiring a counselor. In comparison, other programs like whole30 (vastly different) have all sorts of free support and assistance. This is a complicated program. While it says it's 30 days....be ready for it to take much longer without results if you react to test foods. Very disappointing.
I spent well over $200 on groceries for days 1-5, spent HOURS on food prep, and was so disappointed that the recipes were not good. I made a gigantic batch of the soup like the book calls for and I literally couldn't joke it down because of the seasoning. The sauces are not good either. I searched the website before finally emailing their team to see if they suggest any alternate recipes or options and got a ridiculously rude email, they are apparently very offended if you don't like the recipes. She also makes a lot of "sCiEnCe" claims in the book with zero references except for her own experience with her own clients... which I'm sure is not biased at all.
I was so excited to read this book, however the level of detail and routine you need to follow made me super overwhelmed to just thinking about making a special (2 page) shopping list. As a mom of young kids I need something more simple. Trying Dukan Diet and so far so good.
This was a gift unfortunately the person who gave it to me did not know I had tried to read the authors first book. This book seems to be a repeat of the first poorly written book. Obviously she did not learn anything from her first attempt at writing as it is the same confusing style. She again contradicts herself. No credibility. I would skip this and read Haylie Pomroys Fast Metabolism book instead.
