This book is stunning. Large format, about 300 pages in colour, clear illustration and proper explanations. You have to be hardworking to prepare such a book. Is it OK to say that in order to prepare such a marvellous and detailed book, you have to be a woman, as a regular man would not have the patience for this? I have seen about a hundred maths books, but I have not had a chance to see such a masterpiece. When I attended school, there was the rough and brutal approach to force your learning. I wish I had had such books as are prepared nowadays and especially this one. I would recommend such a book to teach autistic children in colleges. A picture tells more than a thousand words. This book has got an illustration to explain sth. on each page.
Those two little letters - DK - are a sure guide to quality, and this book is no exception. Carol Vordeman, who has been publishing in this area for some time, has also established a good reputation for quality, thoroughness, a deep understanding of mathematics and a great ability to communicate it to others.
It is well produced on quality paper and is a substantial hardcover. It has a comprehensive list of mathematical subjects, all explained clearly with helpful illustrations. It will be ideal for home-schooling parents, children (7-11) and older, teenage children hoping to improve areas of mathematical understanding.
Really great maths guide. I use this with both my kids (one is 9 and one is 11). It takes you step by step through all the basic concepts of maths, starting simple and getting more and more complex (up to the end I primary school standard I guess). My son loves maths, he has a real interest in how numbers work, he likes to browse through and learn new ways of doing things. This book helps me to understand his homework, the methods used, and how best to support him. My daughter (8 years old) is the opposite. When faces with even a simple maths problem her brain freezes in panic. She needs to learn to relax, break the problem down into parts and the work through logically, checking a she goes. This book explains all this beautifully and is really easy to use. She has just started fractions, so we sat down with the book for a few minutes every day and worked through that section. It was wonderful to see her gain confidence and do really well, she worked hard and I am proud of her, but I know I would not have been able to help her without this book.
This book is a must have for KS1 and 2. My children reference it constantly and where teaching methods have changed since I was at school, this book is step by step brilliant. It has been invaluable and there has never been an occasion where it hasn’t been able to help with homework. Absolutely brilliant, wonderful resource. My friend works from this book to homeschool and recommended it.
I have the whole collection of these books they are very straight forward and easy to work through. It is very clear and accessible. I would recommend these for all ages as you can use the information for basic or detailed information. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to create lessons for their children during Covid-19. Also good for revisions and general knowledge
BEST THING we bought during lockdown for both my7 and 10 year old for maths homework. This helped both wife and I as a refresher for fractions, Angles, and long multiplication easy to use, Easy to show kids how to work out math problems
I bought two of this book for my two kids, since it is not easy to make them share a book. I found the book exceptionally well prepared and great reference book for giving them the fundamentals of Maths. I would recommend it to any parent who want to use it as a reference for all aspects of Maths.
